In 2020, I received a message confirming my long and cherished dream of earning the credentials ACMA CGMA. It sounded like a good news in bad times! CIMA as a professional examination thought me important lessons (agility and humility) in addition to all the supper knowledge I have acquired through the process of learning. I hold a PhD in Management with double Masters Degree and over 18 years of senior level management experience at the time so in my mind stepping forward for the CIMA Examination was quite exciting. With all these at the background, I still did not take things lightly. I enrolled with one of the online training institutions and took an active part with all the sessions. I remember at some point in our WhatsApp group discussions some of the students were confused and took me to be a tutor for the Institute 🤔. I did mocks and my average score was 110. With a pass mark of 80, 110 was supper good. Funny enough my exam day score was 45 marks. I mean I failed woefully and got depressed. This was a humbling moment and my absolute respect for #CIMA. On my second attempt I made it to the Glory of God. I have been told several people have done this process over 7 times and are still trying. Over the weekend, I got called into fellowship and have now earned the FCMA credentials. Lessons: Always be humble, have faith in God and trust the process. Thanks to CIMA Ghana Office Paul Aninakwah ACMA,CGMA Osman Musah Tariro Mutizwa ACMA, MBA and Sarah Ghosh FCMA, CGMA for leading the charge.

  • We climaxed our activities for this year's Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Breast Cancer screening exercise targeting communities in the catchment area of our operations. The activities included a sensitisation workshop held to inform participants about the symptoms of breast cancer and the significance of early detection. Our General Manager, Ayesha Mahama, has keen interest the activities that we organise to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and healthcare. She was at the event and gave her firm support on behalf of Rabotec to support the health and wellbeing of the people in the communities where our operations are located. Over three hundred (300) participants were screened; distributed among the age brackets of 9-18 years (160 people) and 19 - 71 years (153 people). Our medical professionals on the grounds on that day identified the lack of knowledge regarding methods of self-examination, stigma around breast cancer and limited availability of medical facility as major challenges that affect the early detection and treatment of breast cancer in the communities. Rabotec is already helping to improve healthcare delivery in Abore and surrounding communities by providing medical facilities to support the healthcare system and we hope to do more that will specifically improve healthcare for breast cancer patients. #RabotecCares #BreastCancerAwareness #CommunityImpact #Sustainability #HealthAndWellbeing

  • We are organising Breast Cancer Screening event this morning to contribute to the awareness creation on Breast Cancer in the month of October. The screening exercise is targeted at members of communities in the catchment area of our operations. These include Abore, Kyenkyenase, Krofrom, Nkaasu, Ejaadwo Krom and Suntreso. According to the WHO strengthening of fundamental health systems to improve delivery of treatment are known strategies that improve breast cancer outcomes. It cited "reliable referral pathways from primary care facilities to district hospitals" as crucial part of the fundamental health system. The aim of the event is to primarily create awareness of Breast Cancer and to provide opportunity for communities who may not have had access to health facilities to get screened. It is also our way of contributing to the health and wellbeing of the communities where over 70% of our unskilled work force come from.

  • Rabotec's newly acquired Volvo A40F 40-ton service truck, nicknamed "Game Changer," will improve equipment maintenance at the Asanko Gold Mine, enhancing operational efficiency. It was built from a Volvo articulated dump truck (ADT) to handle rugged terrains. The 'Game Changer' will deliver on-the-spot servicing for mining equipment during active operations. With its 11,500-liter diesel capacity and specialized storage for oils, lubricants and water, it allows for immediate refueling and maintenance of our heavy machinery eliminating the need for equipment to leave the pit for servicing. Equipped with a high-pressure grease system, onboard generator, and pressure washers, the service truck ensures regular cleaning, lubrication and essential repairs, keeping machinery in peak working condition and reducing the risk of breakdowns. This proactive servicing approach minimizes downtime and extends the lifespan of the mining equipment.

  • Exactly a week today, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of RABOTEC GROUP, Ali Ibrahim joined participants at The Ghana Chamber of Mines' 2024 Expanded Council Meeting. The meeting served as a platform for in-depth discussions on current challenges, opportunities, and innovations within the mining industry. Our CEO, Ali Ibrahim, joined panellists to discuss the challenges of Ghanaian-owned mining and related entities. Key among Mr Ibrahim's contributions is the fact that many Ghanaian mining companies lack access to sufficient capital and financing opportunities to scale up their operations. This is often due to perceived risks associated with the mining sector, which can deter investors and financial institutions. This makes it difficult for them to invest in modern equipment, technology, and exploration activities. Also, he noted that Ghana now faces stiff competition from neighboring countries that are also seeking foreign direct investment in mining. This he says makes it harder for Ghanaian companies to attract the capital and expertise needed to grow. However, Ali Ibrahim intimated that we can develop strategies to address these challenges by fostering collaboration between government, industry stakeholders, and educational institutions.
