About us

SoPPS-UCC: The role of today’s pharmacist has evolved and continues to change due to dynamic societal needs. The focus has shifted from the preparation of extemporaneous medications to more patient-specific therapy and this demands pharmacists with in-depth knowledge and enhanced practical skills. To meet these demands, the University of Cape Coast School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UCC SoPPS) uses innovative teaching and learning methodologies to produce competent pharmacists with the knowledge and skills required to address the pharmacy-related needs of society. The PharmD program run by the UCC SoPPS is a six-year professional program that graduates Doctor of Pharmacy students. UCC SoPPS is guided by its core values, Excellence, Professionalism, Innovation, and Service to produce graduates who are highly skilled for industrial pharmacy practice, community pharmacy practice, hospital pharmacy practice, academia, regulatory agencies, and research. The UCC SoPPS instills entrepreneurial spirit, skills, and knowledge into its students to equip them to establish themselves after their training. UCC SoPPS has several local and international collaborators who assist in producing the next generation pharmacists.
