The general manager of the French division of Nokia has just let slip one enormous great secret, revealing plans for a Nokia made Windows 8 tablet. And it’ll be launching next summer.
Speaking in an interview with newspaper Les Echos, Paul Amsellem said: “In June 2012, we will have a tablet that runs on Windows 8.”
Which is pretty solid. He didn’t say they were mocking up tablets or kicking a few bulky prototypes around a meeting room desk. That sounds like it’s set in stone, which gives us a possible Windows 8 launch date and some new Nokia hardware news in one amazingly revealing sentence. Thanks, Paul. You can come here more often.
Amsellem also confirmed that Nokia has another high-spec Windows Phone handset ready to reveal. Using a weird car analogy, Amsellem said the Lumia 800 was a BMW Series 5, and that the company has more powerful, aspirational Series 7 equivalent phone nearly ready, plus a low-end “Series 3” option, which will be the Lumia 710.
The high-end model is, presumably, the previously rumored 4.3″ Nokia Ace. [Win Rumours via Gizmodo UK]
