A.C. Neos Aliakmon

Neos Aliakmon is one of the largest cooperatives in Central Macedonia, Greece. Since 1968, year of establishment by a group of producers, it has demonstrated a remarkable development in the fields of production, distribution and marketing of fresh fruit. The cooperative consists of 630 farmers – members that currently cultivate approximately 15,000 acres of land in the fertile valley created by the Aliakmonas river. More than 30 million kilos of fresh fruit are produced, preserved and packaged by Neos Aliakmon Agricultural Cooperative every year, with the majority of them being exported to EU countries, as well as the markets of Asia, the Middle East and North and South America. The cooperative supports the local community, securing more than 200 permanent and seasonal jobs. It has modern sorting-packing facilities, cold and storage rooms with state-of-the-art mechanical equipment. Neos Aliakmon Agricultural Cooperative’s main goal at every stage of production is to ensure the quality of the products that will reach the consumer, while respecting the environment and taking actions to support sustainability and reversing the impacts of climate change. The cooperative is certified with all the important quality certificates required in the fresh fruit market such as Global Gap, Grasp, IFS, BRC, Sedex, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 22000:2005, which are fully integrated in the processes of cultivation, packing and distribution of its fruit. Furthermore, as it is a strategic supplying partner of major European supermarkets, Neos Aliakmon implements integrated management methods for the limitation of active substances on the distributed to the final consumer fruits, contributing to the maximum on the food safety of its fresh fruits.
