The International Maritime Organization’s 𝗠𝗘𝗣𝗖 𝟴𝟭 introduced major advancements in marine environmental protection. Key topics included new regulations for greenhouse gas emissions, new Emission Control Areas, and updates to the Ballast Water Management Convention. The committee also addressed measures to reduce underwater noise and manage marine litter. Amendments to 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘅 𝗜𝗫 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗣𝗢𝗟 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘅 𝗩𝗜 were among the key adoptions, requiring the reporting in the Data Collection System (DCS) of: - Total fuel oil consumption per combustion system (main engines, auxiliary engines/generators, and oil-fired boilers) - Total fuel oil consumption while the ship is not under way. These amendments, effective August 1, 2025, necessitate accurate fuel consumption measurements. We are thrilled with the way Posidonia turned out. Our partners, Auramarine Ltd have announced a major order from Meyer Turku shipyard for a 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 to be installed on the Mein Schiff 7 cruise vessel, owned by TUI Cruises. The newbuild is the first of its kind in the maritime industry. Auramarine’s CEO, John Bergman, is available at our #Posidonia Booth 4.116 to share his insights on this innovative development.
