ElvalHalcor released its FY’24 financial results, demonstrating operational profitability (a-EBITDA) of EUR 237.5 million. Despite the challenging international economic environment, #ElvalHalcor’s results remained resilient. Nikolas Carabateas, General Manager of ElvalHalcor’s #Aluminium Segment, stated: ❝The Company’s reinforced competitiveness through implementing the investment plan to increase production capacity of the aluminium rolling segment was confirmed once again. Optimising the production mix in combination with high productivity resulted in an increase in sales volume in 2024, with a focus on high-tech aluminium products for the rigid packaging and automotive markets. Reduced sales in the flexible packaging segment in the first quarter of the fiscal year affected operational results, which marked a decrease compared to 2023.❞ Panos Lolos, General Manager of ElvalHalcor’s #Copper Segment, stated: ❝The strong operational profitability of the Copper Segment confirms for another year our resilience in the face of changes in the economic environment and challenges in the sectors of construction, automotive and various industrial applications, despite the reduced demand for our related products. During the year, we managed to achieve sales volume growth in specific product categories and to strengthen our market shares in our core products. AL or AI? At ELVAL we say both! We incorporate AI (artificial intelligence) in the (AL) aluminium rolling process, from recycling and casting to the final product! On February 4, we hosted a television crew of #ERT Channel (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) at Elval’s facilities in Oinofyta, Viotia, Greece. The visit was part of a broader discussion on the adoption of #ArtificialIntelligence in business, and the challenges and opportunities it presents for the Greek industry. Gerasimos Moschopoulos, Elval IT Senior Director, outlined the benefits of artificial intelligence, stating: ❝At #Elval, we leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation throughout the production process and at the quality control stage. On January 17th, hosted a technical visit at the Foundry to kick off the design phase of the StreamSTEP EU Project and welcomed Professor Hussam Jouhara FREng from Brunel University of London and Eivind Øvrelid from SINTEF one of Europe’s top research organizations. #StreamSTEP, funded by Horizon Europe, focuses on improving #energyefficiency in industrial processes. At Halcor, our role is to integrate advanced thermal energy management systems into our copper melting & #casting operations. By using high-performance #heatexchangers and #heatpumps, we’re working to recover and reuse waste heat effectively. A big part of this effort is using digital twinning technology. This helps us monitor energy flows in real time and carry out life-cycle assessments to find better ways to cut energy waste and lower emissions. At our aluminium rolling mill in Oinofyta, Greece, #ElvalTeam recently hosted 25 students and 5 professors from the University of West Attica's Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department. They participated in a guided plant tour following an interesting introduction by Loukogeorgakis Pavlos, Plant Senior Director. The plant tour focused on ELVAL's milestone investments, including the 4-stand tandem hot rolling mill and the new cold rolling mill and showcased major electrical equipment and electronics technology. Christos Ntalakas, Electrical Maintenance Manager gave an in-depth presentation sharing his experience and connected academic knowledge with Elval’s real-work industrial projects.
