Announcement - Computer course 2024 GreekLUG, announces the completion of Computer course 2024, and would like to thank the participants for their presence. It was held from October to December 2024 and lasted a total of 20 teaching hours. Its focus was on learning basic computer functions, programs and applications for daily use, graphics and multimedia, and internet tools. Computer course 2024 GreekLUG, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pylaia-Chortiatis, organizes a free computer course using FOSS. The course appeals to those who have basic computer skills and wish to be introduced to the world of computing, but also to be trained in the use of the most common applications. (Beginners level) The lessons will start on 12/10/2024 and will be held on Saturdays at 16:00-18:00 with two simultaneous groups: - Group A, at GreekLUG headquarters and Municipal Free Software Center, Egnatias 96 in Pylaia, Thessaloniki - Group B, on the GreekLUG BBB platform. The course will have up to 50 participants (20 seats in the GNU/Linux Lab and 30 online). Registrations will be open until 09/10/2024. After the registration process is over those who have registered will have to confirm their participation. The final list of participants will be posted on 10/10/2024 at the announcement page. Important: In order to be able to participate in the course, it is necessary to have a computer and install applications on it. On September 22, 2024 we are planning to celebrate SFD 2024, with activities which includes promoting Free Software, GNU/Linux Distributions and Open Content. The event will be held at our headquarters, and will include an Free Software install fest (GNU/Linux & FOSS Applications) and presentations about FOSS.

Announcement - Presentation & Computer course for Pylaia's senior citizens GreekLUG, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pylaia-Chortiatis, as part of its educational activities, announces the completion of a presentation and a series of courses with introductory topics to computing for the members of the KAPI Pylaias. The activity included two sections: - a presentation, which took place on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 6:30 PM, at the Pylaia KAPI. - a course, organized during May - June at GreekLUG headquarters and Municipal Free Software Center. It covered introductory topics about computing, the use of everyday applications, digital services, smartphones, and protection from digital threats.
