HERMES Team at CYBATHLON 2024: The First Greek Participation! 🇬🇷🤖 We proudly took part in CYBATHLON 2024, one of the world’s most prestigious robotics competitions, held in Zurich under the auspices of ETH Zurich. HERMES Team made history as the first Greek team to compete in the Exoskeleton Race, representing our country and showcasing the efforts of a student-led group dedicated to developing a robotic exoskeleton. 🦿 🔹 Our participation in CYBATHLON officially began in February 2024 when our team was accepted into the competition. It marked the start of an intense journey filled with hard work, technical and medical adaptations, and unexpected challenges. Just days before the event, a nationwide maritime strike delayed the transportation of our equipment, preventing us from presenting our exoskeleton in the race. Despite this setback, our experience in Zurich was invaluable. We had the opportunity to meet top-tier teams from around the world, exchange ideas, and expand our knowledge—laying the groundwork for future endeavors. 🔹 Our participation in CYBATHLON is just the beginning. We are now focusing on enhancing the performance and functionality of our exoskeleton, aiming to improve mobility for individuals with disabilities. At the same time, we are advancing research in cutting-edge technologies to integrate human capabilities with robotics on an entirely new level. During the last three days, the athletes and teams at the CYBATHLON 2024 showed their outstanding abilities in the competitions. The teams supported by maxon were very successful: 🥈 2nd place for the French team SmartARM from ISIR - Institut des Systèmes Intelligents et de Robotique with their pilot Etienne Moullet in the Category Assistance Robot Race 🥈 2nd place for the Swiss enhanced Teams from OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule and their pilot Rolf Schoch in the category Exoskeletton 🥈 2nd place for the Swiss enhanced Teams from OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule and their pilot Rolf Schoch in the category Wheelchair Race 🥉 3rd place for the Japanese team from Oecu&R-Techs with their pilot Toshiki Ogura in the category Wheelchair Race 🥉 3rd place for the Italian team from BionIT Labs and their pilot Salvatore de Cillis in the Category Arm Prothesis Race Congratulations to all of you - and all the other teams that were not on the winner's podium but still showed extraordinary performances!
