The StreamSTEP EU Project has officially lunched! Maria Aryblia and George Arampatzis participated in the kick off meeting in Trondheim, organized by SINTEF, to introduce indigo - TUC to the consortium. StreamSTEP is a hashtag #HorizonEU project wich aims to optimise Sustainable Thermal Energy Systems in carbon-heavy process industries. The indigo team will lead the work on #VirtualSpatialOptimisation modeling, to assess alternative industrial equipment configurations, with regards to the distance factor as influencing thermal flow efficiency. We will also work on the #middleware for the project's digital infrastructure, supporting data integration and model deployment in the demo sites. Stay tuned for the project results!

indigo - TUC, the Laboratory of Atmospheric Environment and Climate Change-TUC and CIHEAM MAICh hosted a two-day pilot event to present the innovative tools of the TREEADS project for wildfire prevention and management! 🔥 📍 On the first day, digital tools were showcased at MAICh, including a high-resolution wildfire risk index, crowd evacuation simulations for the Samaria National Park, as well as advanced simulations of fire and smoke development. 🌲 📍 On the second day, a pilot application took place at Xyloskalo, featuring:  • Sensors and drones for automatic fire and smoke detection  • Firefighter helmets equipped with augmented reality functions ⛑️ 👏 Special thanks to the Fire Department of Chania, the Directorate of Forests of Chania, the Samaria National Park Management Body of Western Crete, the Civil Protection of the Region of Crete and the Xyloskalo Restaurant for their invaluable support and hospitality! 📢 AIMPRESS Project Kick-off Meeting: A New Era for Sustainable Ports! We are excited to share a glimpse of the kick-off meeting of the AIMPRESS project, funded under the Interreg ADRION Programme and co-funded by the European Union, which took place yesterday at the Technical University of Crete, coordinated by indigo - TUC. During the meeting, we discussed the project structure, introduced the partners, and explored the upcoming work, focusing on sustainable and energy-efficient port operations. But what is the AIMPRESS project, and how is it contributing to the future of Adriatic ports? 🤔 💡 The AIMPRESS project is driving the triple transition in Adriatic ports—green, digital, and social. By integrating sustainable energy technologies, AI-driven systems, and digital innovations, AIMPRESS aims to enhance port efficiency while supporting green growth, circular economy, and climate adaptation. ➡️ Innovations like cold ironing, solar energy storage, and advanced energy management systems are being piloted at key ports in Ancona (Italy), Split (Croatia), and Bar (Montenegro). AIMPRESS is also creating a Green Smart Ports Roadmap to help ports adopt these new technologies and make the shift toward sustainability. ❗ Stay tuned for updates on our journey to creating "Green Smart Ports" ❗

🚀 Exciting times at the Climate Impetus 4th General Assembly in Berlin! 🌍 Hosted by Eurecat - Technology Centre and Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin, Athanasios Anastasiou & Stelios Manoudakis had the opportunity to present some of the tools they've been developing. 👉 Stelios Manoudakis presented the Biodiversity Monitoring and Reforestation Suggestion Service, a collaboration between CIHEAM MAICh, indigo - TUC, Eurecat - Technology Centre, and National Technical University of Athens, designed to enhance biodiversity conservation. 👉 Athanasios Anastasiou introduced key tools such as the Risk Factor Registry (in collaboration with Athens University of Economics and Business), the Risk & Emerging Problems Inference Engine and the Dynamic Contingency Response Tool (in collaboration with National Technical University of Athens), all aimed at improving risk management and emergency response strategies.
