Catástrofe no Mar Navio-tanque B-LPG Sophia em Chamas Em uma noite de terror, 13 de outubro de 2024, às 00:42 horas, o navio-tanque de GLP B-LPG Sophia, pertencente ao Bashundhara Group de Bangladesh, foi palco de uma cena dantesca. Uma explosão ensurdecedora seguida por um inferno de chamas consumiu a embarcação, transformando-a em um monstro de fogo no meio do oceano. A embarcação de 27 anos, com bandeira panamenha, navegava em alto mar, a oeste do ancoradouro de Kutubdia, Bangladesh, quando o desastre ocorreu. A sorte, no entanto, sorriu para os 22 bravos marinheiros a bordo. Em uma operação de resgate heróica e contra o tempo, todos os membros da tripulação foram salvos das garras do mar em chamas. Uma luta desesperada contra o tempo e as chamas marcou a noite. A tripulação, em meio ao pânico e à confusão, lutou para conter o fogo e enviar o pedido de socorro. A explosão abalou a estrutura do navio, colocando em risco a vida de todos a bordo. A tragédia serve como um alerta sobre a importância da segurança na navegação e no transporte de substâncias inflamáveis. As causas do incêndio ainda estão sendo investigadas, mas o incidente ressalta a necessidade de constantes revisões e investimentos em segurança a bordo de navios-tanque.
