Virvilios Anastasios, Partner of our Administrative Law/Public Procurement & PPP Team and member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, attended the 1st Cyber Security Forum accompanied by Associates Evangelia Sgountzou and Eirini Tsalapati, representing Machas & Partners Law Firm. The Forum was held on Friday, November 22 at the Hotel Grande Bretagne under the auspices of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. A proactive dialogue ensued on digital security protection, at a time when digital threats and cyber-attacks are becoming more frequent, significantly impacting critical infrastructures and businesses. The Forum covered a wide range of topics, from cybersecurity incident management to the analysis of the influence of artificial intelligence in cyberspace, and panel discussions were centered on the collection of real-world experiences and best practices for countering attacks. Furthermore, there was a strong focus on the need for a strong legal framework that would specify the responsibilities and obligations in the field of cybersecurity, as well as the new EU legislative requirements. 🇬🇧 🇬🇷 From London to Athens: Greece’s Non-Dom Tax Regime Attracts UK Tax Residents After Non-Dom Abolition In the UK’s Autumn Budget on October 30, significant tax changes were confirmed, including the abolition of the Non-Dom tax status from April 2025. ⏳ As anticipated, from April 6, 2025, UK Non-Doms will transition from the remittance basis of taxation to an arising basis for foreign income and gains (FIG), with a four-year transition window for new applicants. Beyond this date, FIG will be taxed regardless of whether it is brought into the UK. ⚡What’s Next for Non-Doms? With this shift, British UHNWIs and global investors are actively seeking alternatives for efficient tax planning.
