We are proud to share that our paper, “AAG: Adversarial Attack Generator for Evaluating the Robustness of Machine Learning Models Against Adversarial Attacks,” is now published in IEEE! The work was presented at the IEEE International Conference on Big Data in Washington, DC, on December 14th, spotlighting critical advancements in AI security. The authors ( Dimitris Christos Asimopoulos, Panagiotis Radoglou Grammatikis, PhD, Thomas Lagkas, Vasilis Argyriou, Ioannis Moscholios, Jorgen C., Georgios Th. Papadopoulos, Evangelos Markakis, Panagiotis Sarigiannidis) developed an innovative Adversarial Attack Generator Framework to uncover vulnerabilities in machine learning (ML) models - specifically those safeguarding industrial control systems. By simulating diverse adversarial attacks, our study exposes potential risks and emphasizes the urgent need for stronger defenses to protect critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. Our findings aim to inspire smarter, more secure ML solutions to defend essential services, from energy grids to transportation networks. Our team member, Nikos Ntampakis, PhDc, along with co-authors Konstantinos Diamantaras, Vasilis Argyriou, and Panagiotis Sarigiannidis, has published an innovative paper titled "Fusion Grad-CAM: A Methodology for Generating Unified Attention Maps in Majority Voting Classifiers". This research, presented at the Sixth IEEE International Conference on Image Processing Applications and Systems (IPAS2025) in Lyon, France, introduces Fusion Grad-CAM, a novel methodology that transforms how we visualize ensemble classifiers in Explainable AI. By generating unified attention maps, Fusion Grad-CAM simplifies the interpretation of ensemble models' decision-making processes, removing the need to analyze multiple individual attention maps. The research was funded under the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, TALON project. We are happy to announce that our team member Nikos Ntampakis, PhDc, along with co-authors Konstantinos Diamantaras, Kostas Goulianas, Ioanna Chouvarda, Vasilis Argyriou and Panagiotis Sarigiannidis, has published a groundbreaking paper titled "Optimizing Melanoma Prognosis Through Synergistic Preprocessing and Deep Learning Architecture for Dermoscopic Thickness Prediction" in the field of melanoma prognosis. The paper was presented by Nikos Ntampakis, at the 28th UK Conference on Medical Image Understanding and Analysis (MIUA) at Manchester Metropolitan University, and introduces an innovative approach to predicting melanoma thickness using advanced image processing techniques and deep learning algorithms. Achieving an impressive accuracy of 88.89% and an F1 score of 88.65%, our model signifies a substantial advancement in non-invasive melanoma analysis, potentially leading to more timely and accurate clinical interventions. This work, funded under the REALM Horizon Europe project, underscores our commitment to driving forward innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes and empower healthcare practitioners.
