Another year, another success at Open Conf - our experience couldn’t have been better! Over two days, we immersed ourselves in the heart of technology, connected with companies and professionals, and attended some truly insightful panels. But most importantly, we were thrilled to host a discussion on the transition “From Tech to CEO” and delve into the world of entrepreneurship with tech professionals who have taken the leap. Special thanks to our incredible panelists: 🔹Violet Whitney, Co-Founder of Spatial Pixel 🔹Guy Krief, Co-Founder of Persado & Bryq, and Venture Partner at Big Pi Ventures 🔹Anni Panagiotopoulou, Founder & Managing Director of Slash - Business Acceleration Agency, Kato AI, and Citizen Advisor at DL DAO They shared invaluable insights on the challenges of transitioning from tech to leadership and offered advice for aspiring founders and CEOs. Key takeaways? Think networking, constant fundraising, efficient time management, losing control, and testing (and being comfortable with rejecting) ideas. For those who joined us, thank you for making it a valuable session! And for those who missed it, stay tuned for more opportunities to connect and learn. Oh, and a big shoutout to the many #weLEADERs we saw there - our community is growing and thriving! We can’t wait for the next tech events. Thank you, Open Conf! #OpenConf #allyship #womenempowerment #coding #tech #nonprofin #womeninbusiness

As we have already clarified the distinction between ethnicity and race: while ethnicity refers to shared cultural or national identity, race focuses on shared physical characteristics. We also emphasized the importance of using inclusive language to better recognize and respect people’s diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. This week, as promised, we’re back with more practical examples of how to apply inclusive language in everyday conversations. 🔹 Broad ethnicity: Use terms like Black, Asian, and White (capitalize them) when referring to broad racial or ethnic groups instead of using "Caucasian". 🔹 Specific ethnicity: When possible, be more specific by saying Black African, Chinese, Indian, or White British. This shows respect for people’s individual identities, with each written in uppercase. 🔹 Neutral tech language: Replace terms like "Blacklisted" and "White Lists" with neutral alternatives like Block list, Safe list, Allow list, and Deny list to avoid negative racial connotations. 🔹 Underrepresented groups: Instead of "Minorities," use Underrepresented groups. This term is more respectful and acknowledges the challenges faced by certain groups. Language has the power to shape perceptions and create change. By using inclusive language, we make a conscious effort to respect and honor everyone’s identity. Let’s lead by example and continue creating spaces where all individuals feel seen, heard, and valued! Are you interested in organizing a session or workshop on how to become better allies at your company? Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we stand together to confront an urgent global crisis. Every day, women and girls face unspeakable violence - violence that robs them of their dignity, their safety, and their future. This is not just statistics; it is a reality we must change. 📊Almost 1 in 3 women globally have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence. A violence often results in depression, anxiety, unplanned pregnancies, and other serious health consequences. ⚠️Every day, 140 women or girls are killed by a family member. In 2023 alone, 51,100 women and girls were murdered by intimate partners or family members. 🚨 Women facing multiple forms of discrimination - due to disabilities, poverty, or crises - are at a much higher risk of violence. ❗️ Globally, 6% of women report they have been subjected to sexual violence from someone other than their husband or partner. 🌍 Economic crises, conflicts, and climate change exacerbate gender-based violence, with 70% of women in humanitarian contexts experiencing gender-based violence. 🚪Less than 40% of women seek help, and only 10% turn to the police. Let’s break the silence. Let’s take action. Let’s be the change. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #StandUpForWomen #GenderEquality #StopTheViolence
