This special evening brought together over 180 IVSC delegates from 40 countries, along with our Hong Kong professionals, fostering meaningful conversations and strengthening our international community. The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the International Valuation Standards Council while commemorating the remarkable 40 years of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. We were honoured to have IVSC representatives present, showcasing our shared commitment to advancing valuation standards worldwide. 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗩𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗞𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 As we conclude the International Valuation Standards Hong Kong Conference 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the enriching discussions and insightful exchanges that took place. The theme, “Navigating Valuation Challenges in a Changing Landscape: Balancing Global Standards, Sustainability, and Innovation,” resonated deeply throughout our sessions. We were honoured to host a distinguished group of over 240 professionals, including 120 global leaders in valuation along with our local valuation experts, investment professionals, and leaders in both tangible and intangible asset valuation. This conference provided a unique platform for collaboration and understanding, fostering growth and innovation in our profession. Key discussions included the pressing impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations on valuation standards and how these are being integrated into local practices alongside global requirements. The critical role of valuers in promoting sustainability was underscored, particularly during the recent panel session featuring investment officers who shared their reliance on our expertise. 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗩𝗦𝗖 𝗔𝗚𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 🌟 From 20-22 November, the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), Advisory Forum, and committee meetings at the Dorsett Kai Tak Hotel in Hong Kong. It has been an honour for the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) to support the IVSC in hosting these important sessions. Over 180 delegates from more than 40 countries attended, making it a truly global event. The IVSC plays a crucial role in developing and setting international technical and ethical standards for valuations, and this AGM provided an invaluable platform for discussing the key challenges and opportunities shaping our profession. The AGM, chaired by Mrs. Lim Hwee Hua, Chair of the IVSC Board of Trustees, featured key updates from: • Susan DuRoss, Chair of the IVSC Standards Review Board, on progress and priorities in valuation standards. • Aida Dedajic, CAE, MBA, Vice Chair of the IVSC Advisory Forum Working Group, sharing insights from the forum. • Iseo Pasquali, Chair of the IVSC Audit Committee, and Nicholas T., IVSC Chief Executive, providing a comprehensive financial update. The Advisory Forum brought together global valuation professionals for insightful discussions on key challenges and opportunities shaping our profession.
