🏆 Congratulations to an HKU Team on winning the First Prize in the 16th Innovation Competition in Construction Engineering and Management (ICCEM 2024)! The team, comprising three PhD students—Zhe Chen, Dong Liang, and Lingming Kong—from the Department of Real Estate and Construction, is supervised by Professor Frank Xue, who also received the Outstanding Mentor Award at the same event. This renowned event, co-hosted by Tsinghua University in Beijing and Gammon Construction Ltd, is an annual international innovation competition in the civil engineering and construction management field. This year, 119 teams from 44 China and overseas universities signed up; only 12 teams were shortlisted for final interviews in Beijing. HKU PhD and MPhil Programmes: 2025/26 Admission 📣 Friederike Elisabeth Hedley completed her MPhil in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience in HKU’s Department of Psychology. During her studies, she had an amazing time connecting with scholars from other institutions and countries, which opened the doors to new research collaborations.   “My time at HKU has played an integral part in where I am today, as it has instilled in me an academic curiosity to break new ground. I have found an openness and confidence to explore meaningful questions, across different cultures and disciplines,” said Friederike. Friederike has been awarded the 2024 Gates Cambridge Scholarship.  She will start her doctoral studies in Psychology at the University of Cambridge this autumn.   Applications for the HKU PhD and MPhil programmes (main round admission) will close on December 1, 2024.  Unlock your potential and take the next step towards your dreams!
