The 10th Annual General Meeting of InspiringHK Sports Foundation concluded successfully yesterday at The GalaMuse. We were privileged to be able to share and showcase the work IHKSports has been doing in the past year to our esteemed partners including NGO peers, donors, supporters and volunteers.  A heartfelt thank you to our Guest of Honour, Mr. Chris Sun, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare for joining us and acknowledging our work at this important occasion. Our gratitude also goes out to our honorary advisors and strategic council members for their invaluable contributions and insights that have paved the way for our achievements over the past decade. We also took the occasion to present awards including the “Long-Term Partner Award”, the “Most Active Participation Award for IHKSports Flag Day 2024” and the “Long Service Award” to recognise the unwavering support of our partners, volunteers and dedicated staff. 🥳 We feel humbled and honoured to have the support of so many like-minded partners, which has been the cornerstone of our achievements not just in 2023-24 but throughout the last ten years. With the generous support of 太古基金 Swire Trust, IHKSports was thrilled to have teamed up with the The Zubin Foundation to organise the “🌈 EMbrace Minorities: Tung Chung Cultural ImmerSPORTS Tour.” Despite a bit of drizzle on the day, the enthusiasm from participating families was truly inspiring.❤️🔥 Our event featured ambassadors from the Zubin Foundation who guided participants through a rich tapestry of ethnic cultures such as spice and food tastings, as well as opportunities for language learning. Additionally, volunteers from the Swire Group Charitable Trust served as team leaders, engaging families as they explored and gained a deeper understanding of the Tung Chung community. It was an honour for us to be invited as the charity partner of the Hong Kong Asian University Basketball Challenge, organised by Realeague, which concluded successfully last week at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre. This exciting tournament brought together six exceptional university men’s basketball teams from China, South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong, showcasing their outstanding skills to the audience. A big congratulations to the winning team, Yonsei University and to all participating teams for their remarkable performance and sportsmanship! 🔥 Beyond the tournament, WELL DUNK! students had the privilege in participating in an exclusive basketball clinic led by the players from Tsinghua University, Konkuk University, and City University of Hong Kong. 🎊We are thrilled to have partnered with UBS to host UBS Sports & Family Day 2024, held on 9 November at Harrow School, engaging over 1,800 UBS employees and their families! We hope all participants had a fantastic time engaging in the variety of sports offered on the day and had a meaningful weekend bonding with each other. Some demonstrated exceptional team spirit during the competitions in badminton, cricket, tennis, and football, contributing to the vibrant sports atmosphere as everyone actively cheered each other on! ✨ A special thank you also to our guests, Hong Kong Olympic swimmer Camille Cheng and para-badminton medalist Daniel Chan, who joined us at the closing ceremony and shared their inspiring sports journeys. As a charity dedicated to promoting sports and well-being, we are proud to host this sports day for the third consecutive year with UBS who has been a great supporter of our mission in empowering youth through sports. 【Busy with Work = No Time to Exercise?】 Just because you are busy with work doesn’t mean your exercise routine has to suffer! We are thrilled to be invited by the MWYO to conduct research on the sports status of working youths in collaboration with HKFYG, and the results were published in the report "Sports Status of Working Youth” on 19 November 2024. ⭐We discovered that youths who exercised for 2.5 hours or more per week during university are less likely to be hindered by long working hours or fatigue compared to those who exercised less. This underscores the importance of cultivating exercise habits early to help young people maintain an active lifestyle even after starting their careers. ⭐NOW is the perfect time to get your kids moving! Additionally, interviews were conducted with 18 working youths and 5 employers from July to August 2024. Swire Properties recently hosted the Corporate Wellness Challenge: Indoor Golf Tournament at ArtisTree in Taikoo Place on 20 November and we are honoured to be chosen as the charity partner for this incredible event! Tenants of Taikoo Place came together for a purpose-driven golf tournament on the day and played with golf simulators, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship in this fun and engaging competition all for a great cause! A special thank you to Taikoo Place, Swire Properties for their support and to all the 11 participating teams for their generosity and effort, which helped us raise over HK$170,000, enabling underprivileged children and youth with more access to the life-changing benefits of sports. ✨ An Inspiring Home Visit! ✨🏘️ The “Jebsen InspiringHK!” Home Sweat Home programme organised its second home visit of the year on 27 October. On that day, our IHKSports team members visited families residing in inadequate housing such as subdivided flats, offering them thoughtful goodie bags and gaining deeper insights into their living conditions and the challenges they experience in the confined space they reside in. These home visits not only facilitated meaningful connections with the families but also provided an opportunity to engage with them, understand their stories, and offer support.💙 A heartfelt thank you to Jebsen Group for their generous and unwavering support of this programme!
