A sample registration system survey reveals a significant decrease in India's maternal mortality rate, from 212 per 100,000 live births in 2007-09 to 97 in 2018-20. This progress reflects the positive impact of our collective efforts to improve access to maternal and child #healthcare. However, further interventions are needed to address remaining gaps and ensure continued access to critical care.
Inderpreet Sawhney, Trustee, Infosys Foundation, emphasizes the need for systemic changes to bridge these gaps in women's and children's healthcare. To address the same, we established a 100-bed maternity hospital in KanakapuraTaluk, Karnataka, equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities. Since its launch in August 2023, the hospital has served nearly 10,000 OB-GYN patients and 5,000 pediatric cases (by February 2024), providing accessible care to thousands in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
#InfosysFoundation, in partnership with The Antara Foundation, is also addressing critical needs and nutrition challenges for pregnant women, new mothers, and their children in underserved communities within Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district through the Akshita Program. This program is activating 130 health and wellness centers, training 7,200 healthcare workers, and benefiting 112,000 women and children annually.
Recognizing that postpartum depression affects 22% of new mothers, we launched the Infosys Foundation Empower Programme in partnership with Sangath. This program works with ASHA and Anganwadi workers to deliver psychosocial interventions, aiming to improve mental healthcare and enhance early childhood outcomes in underserved communities.
These initiatives strive to create sustainable change, from training healthcare professionals to addressing nutrition and mental health. The Infosys Foundation's vision remains steadfast: empowering women, improving lives, and strengthening health systems to build brighter, healthier futures.

Knowledge is an important asset for any organization. However, traditional knowledge management systems like data silos, manual or inefficient search and retrieval methods, etc. make it difficult for organizations to store, safeguard and utilize this knowledge to its full potential. The advent of Gen AI and RAG techniques is reshaping the landscape of knowledge management, offering more accurate and insightful data retrieval and analysis.
Our latest White Paper by Siraj S. explores how integrating secure and insightful Digital Coworkers, powered by LLMs and RAG, can revolutionize knowledge management from contextual intelligent search, to summarization, correct relevancy of information, and more. These AI-driven solutions ensure accurate information is available to the right person at the right time, boosting productivity and fostering innovation.
