  • Yesterday we hosted our first-ever HKCR Talent Testing Day at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. The event is part of an exciting new initiative to recruit young talent into elite-level rugby and was attended by 200 boys and girls across U16, U18 and U20 age categories.   Hong Kong China Men’s 7s record cap holder and double Asian Games Gold Medallist Salom Yiu Kam Shing, who only started playing rugby as an 18-year-old, led the recruitment efforts through schools and sports associations under the tagline ‘Unleash Your Potential’.   A huge thanks to our partners from the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI), the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and Youth We Go, as well as to our VIP guests, including Mr. Tang King-Shing (Chairman of HKSI), Mr. George Kin Pan Tsoi (Sports Commissioner at the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau) and Mr. Man Yue Hin (Head of the Department of Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education at SF&OC).   Read more: https://lnkd.in/gTR5dn67 #hkrugby #AGameForAll

  • It is great to welcome the Brazil Men’s 15s team to Hong Kong for the first time for a two-match Autumn International Test Series.   The first match takes place tomorrow (Saturday 9 November) at the Hong Kong Football Club, with the second match on Saturday 16 November at the Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground – this will give fans the first chance to watch rugby at the brand new venue.   Hong Kong China Men’s 15s Captain, Joshua Hrstich, commented: “It's a great chance for our fans to come out in their own backyard and watch a new opposition bring their exciting brand of rugby to Hong Kong, so we really can’t wait.” Brazil Men's 15 Captain, Cleber Días, said: “The expectation is that it will be a tough and physical game, as that is the way Hong Kong China plays and the way Brazil likes to play. The last game was so close we hope to win this time round and get different perspectives moving forward.”   Read the full series preview here: https://lnkd.in/gKx9tnjb #hkrugby #allin

  • Over the past year, Hong Kong China Rugby’s #LIFT programme has empowered women in rugby by helping to develop skills in personal branding, public speaking, networking and leadership.   On Friday evening participants celebrated the closing of the inaugural LIFT programme at the DLA Piper offices in Hong Kong, with a new cohort set to be welcomed in 2025.   A huge thanks to HSBCEY and The Women's Foundation, as well as to Gill Meller for leading the programme.    #WomenInLeadership #WomeninRugby
