We're grateful to HKGCC for this opportunity! With our presence in Hong Kong, Shanghai and beyond, we're committed to deepening our partnerships and supporting businesses in their next phase of growth - both domestically and internationally.

Hello, Shanghai! On the first day of our mission to Shanghai and Hangzhou, Zhejiang, the Chamber’s high-level delegation, led by Chairman Agnes Chan, BBS, called on Zhu Min, Party Secretary and Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.   They also engaged in fruitful discussions with Shou Ziqi, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce.   During a meeting hosted by Chen Tong, Standing Committee member of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Minister of the Shanghai United Front Work Department, he expressed his appreciation for HKGCC’s long-term support of Shanghai's economic development. The delegation also connected with Liu Ping, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Kong Fu'an, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, and several other prominent leaders.   The day concluded with a visit to the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, which offered valuable insights into the city’s future development.   Stay tuned for more updates as we strengthen ties and explore new opportunities in these booming cities!   #HKGCC #hongkongbusiness #shanghai #china #collaboration

  • Our team attended the 37th Annual Asian Venture Capital Journal (AVCJ) Private Equity Forum this week, gleaning valuable insights from the four-day event. In the session below, leading private equity firms like JPMorgan, Blackstone, KKR and EQT identified hot sectors including AI, healthcare, robotics, infrastructure and transportation. Tokenisation is gaining traction too, though regulatory and educational challenges remain. Another standout session was yesterday's "Building the private wealth channel" panel, moderated by Edwin Chan of iCapital. Industry experts including Lily Chan of Goldman Sachs, Alan Lee of Blackhorn Wealth Management, Gary S Leung from J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Connie Sin, CFA from Nomura discussed key private wealth trends for 2025. Insights included: - Greater adoption of open-ended funds enabling broader access to alternatives - Increasing convergence of public and private market investments - Continued momentum and growth in Asia for private asset integration The consensus was clear - a balanced approach with alternatives can no longer be overlooked in private wealth management.

Halfway through the second week of #COP29, criticism over the conference's environmental impact has quickly emerged. One of the most striking paradoxes of COP events is at the forefront once again: the sheer number of participants flying in from all corners of the globe generates substantial carbon emissions. A paradox that is more than just a matter of optics - it risks undermining the very purpose of the conference: reducing global carbon output. To understand whether COP29 can overcome its environmental contradictions, read the full article from Honor Morel, Account Executive at SEC Newgate UK: https://lnkd.in/dwu7huWg #SECNewgate #ESG

  • SEC Newgate debuted its fourth edition of the ESG Monitor. This ground-breaking report explores the views of over 14,300 individuals across 14 countries and territories, offering key insights into their views on ESG issues. “Expectations, but also disbelief, are high when it comes to ESG communication. 65% of Hongkongers expect corporates to more clearly communicate their ESG strategy and performance, while 41% do not trust companies’ claims about their ESG activities," said James Hill, Managing Partner of SEC Newgate Greater China. "Those results underscore the importance for corporates operating in Hong Kong to better articulate how they are embedding sustainability in their businesses and increase transparency around their KPIs and achievements so that stakeholders can more effectively measure progress.” To read and download our ESG Monitor report and more: https://lnkd.in/ezMNMhi9 #SECNewgate #ESGMonitor #ESG

  • Our joint presentations in Shenzhen and Shanghai, in partnership with Investment NSW, provided invaluable insights into the strategic pathways for Chinese businesses looking to invest in Australia’s new energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.   A huge thank you to Brian Tyson, Bing Cao, Helen Sawczak, Victoria Guo, Haotian Chen and Gilbert L. for their impactful insights during our sessions this past week! One of the key takeaways was the importance of strategic thinking for Chinese businesses pursuing investment opportunities in Australia. Seeking advice beyond the FIRB process and adopting a holistic approach to mitigate risks will be crucial for successful market entry.    We also emphasised the significance of reputation and relationship-building as essential skills for navigating Australia’s complex political and regulatory environment.    In addition, we’d like to thank NIO, 大象机器人 Elephant Robotics, SEC Newgate Australia, James Hill, Terence Foo, Sandy Liu, Yaoxiang L., and all of those who contributed to making these events successful!   #InvestmentNSW #SECNewgate #China #Australia #Investors
