Hygiene is non-existent in this place. Avoid the breakfast - is very difficult to tell what cutlery, plates and mugs are clean. Having observed the cleaning from afar, I would err on the side that nothing is clean. The floor in the room was dirty and there was leftover food in fridge from previous guests. Some pretty basic cleaning mistakes which could have so easily been avoided and transformed this experience into a significantly more pleasant one. The only redeeming quality is its location - situated pretty centrally in town.

A really great hotel with super attentive staff (thank you mariano, luciano and team!) that went above and beyond. It has a great bar with great food; the restaurant views are amazing, and good quality rooms (bathroom was a tiny bit dated). The rooms facing the valley have incredible views and should be requested if possible. It’s also perfect for hiking, the start of the trails for Laguna del torre and Laguna de los tres are easily walkable from the hotel. El Chalten is small, and the restaurants close to the hotel were good (La cevezeria). Would recommend if looking for a nic(er) option in el Chalten.

Room is nice and good size. Has sufficient space for 2. Breakfast is a nice spread, although it is exactly the sane everyday. Hotel has sauna, gym and massage services (cheaper than street prices for tourists). Location is super convenient, easy walk to town for food and shopping. Also very near to the free shuttle to the Glaciaruim.

Chalten Suites in the centre of El Chalten is more of an upmarket hotel more for people seeking comfort than just a place to throw a sleeping bag onto the floor. The rooms are quaint and spacious enough and the bathroom is fine. Water pressure in the shower is satisfactory. The bed is comfortable and the heating works as it should in such a cold place. The included breakfasts were excellent, especially to charge your body up for a long hike. The staff are extremely helpful and do go out of their way to try to ensure your stay goes well. They will organise shuttles to walks and offer advice for those unfamiliar with the local attractions. When the lovely receptionist mentions a shorter walk to Laguna Capri, ignore that and go with the longer walk option (see review on Chalten walks). There are only a few negatives for the hotel. Top of the list is the poor Wi-Fi, which is annoyingly unreliable. However, that could be a location problem for the whole town. That said, in all my weeks of travel throughout South America, this is the only place with bad Wi-Fi. Next is the cheap toilet paper, a silly thing really as it is so unnecessary. Especially when you have to use twice as much for the same job. Lastly, the restaurant in the hotel is limited. It has a nice ambience and good views but the menu is limited and lacking in national dishes. I paid $US200 per night and stayed 3 nights. For that fee, one would expect better internet. Overall, there aren’t many flash hotels in El Chalten and Chalten Suites does provide a necessary service for tourists rather than adventurers. We booked a two bedroom apartment and it was excellent. Large size apartment with everything that you’d expect from an apartment style accommodation. Checkin was swift and service was great with very friendly staff. Calm, serene location with views of the spectacular Lago Argentino. Although the location is a little out of town, we had a rental car so this didn’t bother us.

Very windy and very cold. I just remember being so cold and loud at night. Snack was nice. I didn’t have meals here so not sure about food. Location is nice as it is in the center by the hiking trailheads. They gave me a discount for paying in cash.
