Stayed with my parents, husband and 13 year old in a 2 bed apartment here. Myself, Mum and Dad are seasoned self catering skiiers, we usually do go for budget "value for money" apartments to save on overall expenses, & we've had several hit and miss experiences over the years. All agreed this is the absolute best accomodation we've stayed in. Far more spacious than expected, a bathroom with big sink and bath with shower over, plus 2nd bathroom with shower, big sink and loo, then a further separate loo. Rooms were a good size, 2 balconies with great views of the slopes. There are lifts to all floors inc boot room. We had 2 lockers for our room, one for boots one for skiis. Its less than a 2min walk to the nursery slope and chairlift. Reception staff were lovely and helpful and spoke very good english. The guys at the ski hire shop attached are nothing short of amazing. Nothing was too much trouble they are the nicest people, amazing service. Facilities in the hotel are really good, very servicable little kitchenette in apartment, its not huge, but we cooked dinner for 5 every night without an issue. They provide loo rolls, towels, dishwasher tabs, bin bags, mini cleaning bits... you have everything you need for a self catering week. Ignore the bad reviews, honestly not sure what people are expecting for the money. You want a 5* glamourous hotel go pay for one. This is great value for what you pay, especially compared to where we have stayed before in other resorts. The skiing itself....honestly its not for novices. Experienced skiiers with hardy knees will be fine to explore the wide range of slopes on offer, but be warned the blue runs are more like wide reds, very steep, and can be quite moguly. Only a handful of greens, its not a ski resort for first timers really, bit of a shame as I had 2 beginners to teach, and did get bored of the same couple of slopes day in day out, but thats on us. Serpentine and Tourmaline put me through my paces early in the morning by myself! All in all its a fab place with lots of apres ski and ski up restaurants. Hope the snow returns to Flaine soon as weeks without fresh snowfall is making all the resorts pretty icy to ski on right now. Still, you cant control the weather! If I come back to Flaine I would 100% stay at La Foret again no question.
