A Stroll Through Île de Ré: Charm and Coastal Beauty
#magicalxmastrip #IledeRé #france
Île de Ré, an idyllic island off France’s Atlantic coast near La Rochelle, is a paradise of serene beaches, salt marshes, and picturesque villages. Known as the “White Island” for its sun-bleached façades, it’s a favorite retreat for Parisians and travelers seeking tranquility. Exploring Île de Ré on foot is one of the best ways to absorb its unique charm.
As you stroll through its quaint streets, you’ll notice the signature whitewashed houses with green or grey shutters, a hallmark of Île de Ré’s architecture. These homes often feature vibrant hollyhocks climbing their walls, adding pops of color that feel quintessentially coastal. Many date back centuries, reflecting the island’s long history as a fishing and salt-harvesting community.
In the village of Ars-en-Ré, one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages,” the spire of the black-and-white church of Saint-Étienne acts as a landmark for sailors and visitors alike. Wander down cobblestone streets lined with artisan shops and local markets.
The capital, Saint-Martin-de-Ré, boasts a charming harbor surrounded by cafés and restaurants. Its Vauban fortifications, built in the 17th century, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Beyond the streets, Île de Ré’s eco-conscious culture is evident in its commitment to preserving natural beauty. The island is a haven for walkers and cyclists, with paths leading through vineyards, oyster beds, and salt flats.
Every corner of Île de Ré feels like a postcard, offering an enchanting glimpse into French island life.
Very beautiful castle with easy to photo
If you want to take a photo on Hall of Mirror in Versailles palace , but you cannot because of too much people. I recommend you go to Hotel de la Marine in Paris.
Hôtel de la Marine was used to be home of the royal Garde-Meuble. After the French Revolution, it became the Ministry of the Navy til 2015. The building was renovated from 2015 to 2021.
In the present,it was open for people to take a look for many stuff. And also, it has audio guide to tell you about this building and the history of it.
It is very beautiful, you should not miss this palace. It is very easily for you to take photos. Just prepare your dress and camera. You will get nice pictures.

BaanParis, a super chic Airbnb in Paris 😍
🏡 Review of Paris accommodation We stayed at #BaanParis in District 8
.
The accommodation is an Airbnb. It has a complete kitchen. Everything is convenient. The location is great. It is right on Rue de Rome. There are cafes and supermarkets around. It is close to the metro. Europe station is less than 5 minutes away. The house is very cozy. It looks like it came out of Pinterest. You can contact Phi Pai, the owner of the house @BaanParis.
.
But the accommodation is on the 4th floor. But if you count in Paris, it will be on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator. If you have big luggage, you will definitely get the feeling of Emily in Paris. 55556 Because the building is vintage, the wooden floor will make some squeaking sounds when walking. The door is a bit difficult to open. And we live like a house. Before checking out, we returned the key, washed the dishes, and threw away the trash in the room. It is very convenient. You can cook your own food. There are pots, pans, and condiments ready. Next time, if you come to Paris Will definitely stay here again 🥰

Colmar express
It was a quick stop between Strasbourg and Basel, that's why I call it Colmar express (visit), but it was a real life fairytale experience. I was amazed by every second house, by the green decoration everywhere, the charming atmosphere and the great views. The city is very easy to navigate. There are signs with the statue of Liberty 🗽 wich show you the main tourist attractions (just follow the marks). No need to mention the good food and the coffee opportunities around the centre 😊

One United Arab Emirates | Louvre at Sea the beautiful
Today, I came to visit the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. There are 12 exhibition halls and many exhibits. Some of them have been seen in Paris, haha.
It is carried out in chronological order. The exhibits are exquisite, and the decoration of the museum is also very beautiful at the intersection of light, shadow and the sea. I think it is still worth visiting.

Discovering Hotel de la Marine: A Parisian Gem Steeped in History
Nestled in the heart of Paris, Hotel de la Marine is an architectural treasure with centuries of fascinating history. Originally serving as a royal warehouse, this grand building on the Place de la Concorde has played many roles throughout its life, from housing France’s naval ministry to becoming a stunning public museum today. Here's why you should explore this hidden gem.
Built in the 18th century, the Hotel de la Marine was designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the chief architect to King Louis XV. The building initially served as a storehouse for the royal furniture, tapestries, and precious items, ensuring that France’s finest furnishings were in pristine condition. Its location on Place de la Concorde, one of the most famous squares in Paris, also added to its prominence.
By 1789, as the French Revolution unfolded, the building transitioned into the headquarters for France’s naval ministry, a role it would keep for over 200 years. As France’s naval power grew, Hotel de la Marine witnessed the rise and fall of various regimes, standing through some of the country's most pivotal moments in history. From Napoleon’s empire to the post-WWII period, this building has been at the center of French politics and naval affairs.
Do you know one of the most famous events associated with Hotel de la Marine is the theft of France’s crown jewels in 1792, when revolutionaries looted the building’s royal warehouses. Many of these jewels were never recovered, adding a layer of intrigue to the building's history.
For those interested in French history, architecture, or simply looking for a unique museum experience in Paris, Hotel de la Marine offers a captivating journey through time. From its royal origins to its naval legacy, this Parisian landmark is brimming with stories waiting to be discovered.

Saint Emilion | Brilliant restaurant with tasty oyster and fish
During my last trip to Bordeaux, France, I took a side trip to nearby Saint-Émilion. I only realized after arriving that it’s a town full of famous wineries and has even been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The restaurant we visited was spacious, and it seemed like mostly locals were dining there.
Their wine collection was extensive, though we didn’t order any since it was lunch.
The oysters were incredibly fresh, and with a bit of lemon, there was no trace of fishiness.
The pre-meal mini pizza was light and fluffy, so it didn’t make us feel too full.
I tried a unique soup where the broth was poured over the ingredients at the table. It was very fresh and flavorful – I especially loved the subtle sweetness of the carrots.
We ordered two fish dishes, and I must say, the French are great at seafood! The fish had a crispy outer layer, complemented by potatoes and asparagus. The presentation was beautiful, and the potatoes had a crispy texture that went well with the sauce.

Paris: The Timeless Romance of the City of Lights
#100waysoftravel #awesomepic #couplestrip #france #paris
Paris, the capital of France, has a rich and tumultuous history that dates back over 2,000 years. Originally founded as a settlement by the Parisii tribe, it transformed into a major city during the Roman Empire. Over the centuries, Paris has been the epicenter of significant events, from the medieval period, marked by the construction of iconic structures like Notre-Dame Cathedral, to the Enlightenment, when the city became a hub for philosophers and artists. The French Revolution in 1789 marked a turning point, leading to radical social and political changes. Today, Paris is celebrated not only for its historical significance but also for its role as a cultural, artistic, and intellectual center.
Key Places to Visit
The Eiffel Tower, an iron lattice structure completed in 1889, is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. Originally criticized by some of Paris’s leading artists and intellectuals, it has become a symbol of French engineering and culture. Visitors can take an elevator or climb the stairs to enjoy breathtaking views of the city.
Louvre Museum, Home to thousands of works of art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo, the Louvre Museum is the world’s largest art museum. Once a royal palace, the Louvre showcases a diverse collection that spans from ancient civilizations to the 19th century. Its glass pyramid entrance has become a modern architectural icon.
Notre-Dame Cathedral, This stunning Gothic cathedral, completed in the 14th century, is renowned for its intricate façade, beautiful stained glass windows, and remarkable flying buttresses. Although it suffered significant damage during the 2019 fire, restoration efforts are underway to return Notre-Dame to its former glory. The cathedral is a testament to medieval craftsmanship and spirituality.
Champs-Élysées and Arc de Triomphe, one of the most famous avenues in the world, lined with shops, cafés, and theaters. It culminates at the Arc de Triomphe, which honors those who fought and died for France. Visitors can climb to the top of the arch for a panoramic view of the city and the bustling avenue below.
Montmartre, known for its bohemian past, was once home to many famous artists, including Picasso and Van Gogh. At its peak lies the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur, a stunning white church offering one of the best views of Paris. The neighborhood’s charming streets and lively atmosphere make it a must-visit.
Transportation for my Western Europe trip

Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum is incredibly vast as it was once a royal palace. It consists of three wings, each housing numerous highlights worth seeing, such as the famous Mona Lisa painting, the Venus statue, and the statue of the goddess Nike, known as The Winged Victory of Samothrace. There are many more exquisite pieces to admire. Upon entering, it is recommended to head to the Denon wing first, where you will encounter the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the goddess of victory, in room number 6, which is the room displaying the Mona Lisa. Behind the Mona Lisa, you will find The Wedding Feast at Cana, another renowned painting in the museum by Paolo Veronese. Continue exploring the numerous famous paintings that pique your interest. It is said that even a month would not be enough to fully appreciate all the details.

The History of St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Nice 🕍✨
The St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Nice is not only a stunning architectural gem, but also a significant symbol of Russian history on the French Riviera. 🇷🇺🏞️
A Gift of History 🏛️
Built in 1912, the cathedral was commissioned by Tsar Nicholas II as a tribute to his late son, Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich, who tragically died in Nice in 1865. The cathedral was constructed to serve the large Russian community that frequented the Côte d'Azur during that time, a reflection of the close ties between Russia and Nice. 🕊️🌍
Architectural Beauty 🕍
Inspired by the traditional Russian Orthodox style, the cathedral is a breathtaking sight. Its vibrant onion domes, intricate brickwork, and golden details make it stand out amidst the Mediterranean scenery. It’s the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe, and its interior is just as magnificent – adorned with frescoes, icons, and ornate woodwork that instantly transport visitors to the grandeur of Imperial Russia. 🎨✨
A Place of Worship and History 📜
The cathedral remains a place of active worship and is open to visitors who wish to admire its beauty and learn more about the deep historical connection between Russia and Nice. As you walk through its peaceful gardens, you can reflect on its unique story – a blend of spiritual devotion and historical memory, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. 🌿🙏
Whether you’re captivated by its architecture, its history, or the spiritual tranquillity it offers, St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral is a must-visit for anyone exploring Nice's cultural heritage. 🌸🕍

Marseille France
Marseille is an ancient and significant port city and the second largest city in France. It serves as an important economic hub connecting Mediterranean coastal countries with France's former colonies. We took a bus from Aix, which took about 30 minutes. We didn't plan much for this trip, so First led the way. The main attractions include:
Notre-Dame de la Garde: A beautiful and grand church located on a hill, offering a panoramic view of the entire city of Marseille.
Fort Saint-Jean: A fortress situated by the Mediterranean Sea, built in 1660 by King Louis XV of France to guard the entrance to the port of Marseille.
Cathédrale La Major: A Roman Catholic cathedral that serves as the main cathedral of Marseille. After taking some beautiful photos, First took us up the elevator in the MUCEM (no ticket required) to capture stunning views of the old port of Marseille. Without First, we wouldn't have known how to get there.
Vieux Port: The old port is another major tourist attraction, often referred to as the gateway to the Mediterranean.

Mont Saint-Michel: A Medieval Marvel Rising from the Sea
#francetrip
Mont Saint-Michel, one of France’s most iconic landmarks, is a must-visit destination. This stunning medieval abbey sits atop a rocky island off the coast of Normandy, surrounded by tidal waters. The unique location makes the approach to Mont Saint-Michel feel otherworldly, as the tides dramatically shift between fully surrounding the island and revealing a causeway. I recommend exploring the winding, narrow streets that lead up to the abbey, as well as staying overnight in the nearby village to experience the magic of the tides at sunrise and sunset. The view from the top of the abbey offers breathtaking vistas of the surrounding bay. If you’re traveling in France, Mont Saint-Michel should top your list for its rich history and enchanting atmosphere. #100WaysofTravel #France #Normandy #MedievalWonder

Popular with surfing tourist
That certainly seemed to be the case. Biarritz was one of the stops I made during my northern trip. It was surprisingly nice. I think being somewhat offbeat makes it a bit of a gem. Having said so, plenty of people with surfing interests can be found here. I only discovered that when socialising with fellow travellers at the hostel. It seemed most were headed to the beach for surfing.
Another observation was that the fancy stores in town did draw in several trendy tourists. I was still trying to figure out the town. And it seemed to give a variety even in vibes. Moving on to my favourite activity, food. There are countless costly eateries to dine in at Biarritz, but if you shop around, there are some well-priced authentic places to be found, too.
If the surfing thing is not for you or if you find the easily accessible of beach parts to be crowded. It’s well worth heading away from Biarritz to hunt for more space on the sands. The coast to the north and south is literally bursting with beaches, all with their own personalities.

Opulence maximum
This is undoubtedly amongst the world's most beautiful palaces. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. The gardens, the facade the art work, what opulence. I can't believe we took the RER from the invalides for under 4 euros and then a quick 10 minutes walk from the Versailles station. Normally, I have spent much more and travelled longer for somethings and found myself disappointed. This was a total turn around!
There is going to be a lot of walking. So come with the most comfy pair of shoes. The hall of mirrors and arts and paintings were so awesome. Gardens and fountains to the back of the palace are a must see. Get the audio guide. It will improve the experience greatly. This is also a very popular spot. So it's bound to be crowded. I'd say come with time and don't be in a rush. This palace deserves your time!

Mont Saint-Michel: A Fairytale Getaway
If you ever find yourself in 🇫🇷France, you’ve got to check out Mont Saint-Michel. It’s this tiny island sitting between Normandy and Brittany, and I swear, the first time you see the abbey towering above the island, it’s like stepping into a storybook. Wandering through those narrow, cobblestone streets lined with old stone houses really makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. If you visit when the tide is low, you’ll see vast stretches of sand, but if you’re there in the evening, the abbey all lit up is seriously magical.
What’s special about this place isn’t just the amazing architecture, but also the calm, peaceful vibe it gives off. Walk around the abbey, take in the wide-open views of the bay, or relax with a coffee at one of the local cafés. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’ve escaped the hustle and bustle for a bit, and you leave feeling totally recharged.

Fascinating
Located right opposite the confluence this museum makes for an easy activity. For us it was time to grab a bite as well. So a visit to the museum and its cafe for a snack served perfectly well. The exhibits are impressive, covering diverse themes such as life and death, scientific exploration, cultural exchange, and even love. It features a vast collection, including paleontology, zoology, and ethnography artifacts. These varied themes provide deep insights into human knowledge and experience.
I felt the temporary exhibitions also add to the museum's appeal, with current displays on topics like epidemics and even the topic of love. The museum's architecture and design are also spectacular, a unique blend of lines and curves creates a modern space for these exhibits. It would be a great addition tonyour itinerary.
