Changsha Bay's Affordable Pickled Fish
When it comes to affordable pickled fish in Changsha Bay, this place is a must-visit. A large plate with noodles or rice costs only $268.
This time, we tried the old-fashioned pickled fish soup with bass slices. The large plate was really generous. The soup base had a fragrant sesame flavor, and the mild spiciness we chose was just right, with a perfect balance of sourness and numbness, not too spicy and great with rice.
In addition to fish slices, the pickled fish also came with enoki mushrooms, tofu skin, soybeans, baby cabbage, potatoes, lettuce, tofu, and potato slices, all topped generously.
The bass was boneless and the meat was fresh and sweet. Pairing a slice of fish with a sip of soup and some rice was the best! If you find it too spicy, just order a cold salted lemon 7-Up.
We also ordered the spicy beef tripe for a little extra. The portion was generous, and the beef tripe was chewy and delightfully spicy.
This neighborhood eatery offers great value for money with generous portions, which is why it's still crowded even at 9 PM.

Shrimp Feast
Today, I had to go to Tsim Sha Tsui to pick up a Christmas Panettone, so I decided to have a meal with friends at Hyatt Regency, as it had been a while since our last visit.
Looking at the chef's recommendations, they recently launched a series of shrimp dishes that seemed quite appealing, so we decided to have a shrimp feast, adding a few other dishes to make it a satisfying meal.
Starting with the cold dishes, the spicy sauce mixed with shrimp and kale was visually pleasing. The two main ingredients, the tender shrimp and the crispy kale, paired with the homemade, mildly spicy sauce, made for a perfect appetizer.
After warming up, the dishes started arriving one after another. The stir-fried tiger prawns with three types of onions and Sichuan pepper were large and bouncy, with the Sichuan pepper adding a fragrant and spicy flavor. The base ingredients, including green onions and red onions, were also delicious.
After two shrimp dishes, we switched flavors with the chicken with shallots, black garlic, and fermented black beans. As expected, the chicken was tender, and the black garlic was the best supporting ingredient, accompanied by fermented black beans and green and red peppers, making it flavorful and delicious.
After the chicken, we returned to the shrimp. The double-colored chopped chili shrimp was a first for us, usually paired with fish heads. The red and yellow chili pieces looked intense, but from experience, the yellow chili was actually more stimulating. The base ingredients, including cordyceps flowers, wood ear mushrooms, and vermicelli, made the dish colorful and rich.
For some reason, we always crave some roasted meat, so we ordered the char siu and roasted pork belly. The char siu was tender with slightly charred edges, very tasty. The roasted pork belly had distinct layers and crispy skin, equally delicious.
Of course, we also had to have some vegetables. The cordyceps flowers and goji berries soaked in shrimp broth made the spinach and cordyceps flowers feel even healthier.
The fried rice also had shrimp. This pot of glutinous rice was actually a mix of two types of rice, stir-fried with river shrimp and preserved meat, making it very flavorful and satisfying with every bite.
By this time, we were quite full, so we ordered the signature custard buns and sesame cake for dessert to share. The custard buns, a long-time favorite, had layers of flavor, and the sesame cake was rich, satisfying our sweet cravings.

Flowing Echo Journey
In the concrete jungle of Hong Kong, life moves at a fast and stressful pace. If you want to relax over the weekend and enjoy some natural scenery, there's a simple and accessible place known as the 'Mirror of the Sky' - the Flowing Echo Reservoir!
The bald cypress trees at Flowing Echo Reservoir have always been a popular spot for hikers and photographers, turning red from December to January each winter. Located in the Northern District, the hiking trails are well-connected and easily accessible!
This time, due to the weather not being cold enough, only one or two bald cypress trees had turned red. However, the hiking trail is easy, and you can feel the cool breeze, making it very comfortable and worth a visit!
Weekend Seafood Feast
For us city dwellers, spending the weekend with friends in Sai Kung, enjoying seafood, sipping coffee, and taking photos is a great way to relax.
Last time we tried Luk Fook, so this time we decided to visit another famous restaurant in the area, Sing Kee Seafood Restaurant.
Being lazy as usual, I followed the group, with someone having already prepared the menu in advance.
Once everyone arrived, we started with the pan-fried cuttlefish cakes. They were incredibly bouncy and flavorful. While some preferred them plain, I found that a bit of sweet and sour chicken sauce made them even better.
Next up was my favorite dish of the meal, the drunken mantis shrimp in Huadiao wine. The shrimp was tender and juicy, with the wine adding just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the shrimp. It was excellent!
When it comes to soup in places like this, simplicity is key. With plenty of mixed fish available, a simple tomato and papaya fish soup was deliciously sweet and homely.
The salt and pepper fresh abalone is a signature dish here and not to be missed. The abalone was coated in a thin golden crust, crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside, and very flavorful.
Following that was the steamed scallops with rice vermicelli in red wine lees. The vibrant color and wine aroma elevated the dish, combining perfectly with the vermicelli and perfectly cooked scallops. It was quite interesting.
The final seafood dish was Thai-style lobster with crispy rice noodles. I was surprised to find Thai flavors here! The Australian lobster was meaty and of high quality. The crispy rice noodles underneath were not just a side dish; adding the Thai curry sauce made it truly delightful.
Unexpectedly, the non-seafood dishes were just as impressive, like the honey mustard hawthorn ribs. They were crispy, with the mustard not too overpowering, and the fresh hawthorn added a natural flavor. I couldn't stop eating them.
The stir-fried kale with shrimp paste was aromatic and flavorful, much more appealing than just a plain stir-fry.
To cater to different tastes, there were two types of fried rice, spicy and non-spicy. Personally, I voted for the spicy Thai-style minced meat fried rice.
The osmanthus jelly was refreshing, and the Yakult jelly, a signature dish of Sing Kee for many years, was of high quality.

Amelia Restaurant: A Must-Try Culinary Experience in Tsim Sha Tsui
Located in the Ocean Terminal of Harbour City, Amelia offers a cleverly designed ground floor with both indoor and outdoor seating. Whether you want to enjoy a leisurely dinner or feel the gentle sea breeze, there is a perfect spot for every diner.
We visited Amelia on a Sunday evening for a family gathering. Since we made the reservation on the same day, only outdoor seating was available. Despite the cold weather forecast, the outdoor seating was surprisingly comfortable, with no trace of chill. The stunning view of Victoria Harbour, enhanced by Christmas lights, made the experience even more enchanting.
The menu offers three sets to choose from, and you need to decide before being seated. We opted for the premium set and added an extra $188 for unlimited oysters. Choosing the premium set doesn't limit you to only the premium main dishes; it also includes the main dishes from the basic set.
You can order soup/salad & appetizer/dessert through your phone, with a limit on the number of items per person every ten minutes. Main dishes and oysters need to be ordered through the staff. The 120-minute dining time is more than enough to try all the dishes. The freshly shucked oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, highly recommended 👍🏻. My favorites were the scallops, seasonal fish (eel), and pistachio ice cream 💗💗. Other dishes were also good, but the wagyu burger patty wasn't to my taste.

🇭🇰Hong Kong's most beautiful giant Christmas tree🎄Panda🐼photo spot🥰You don't have to go and take a photo
Hong Kong is full of Christmas atmosphere. It is recommended to go there at 5:30pm to see the sunset over the sea view, record the warm winter moments, and mark 2024 as a perfect mark. Hurry up and check in!
🏖️Environment/Facilities: The 20-meter-tall West Kowloon Christmas tree is here! The Christmas town where this year’s West Kowloon Christmas tree is located covers an area of more than 10,000 square feet, an increase of 30% compared to last year. This giant outdoor Christmas tree, over 20 meters tall, is equivalent to a six-story building. For the first time, projection technology has been introduced and turned into a giant canvas! Four "Winter Harbor Fireworks on the Water" will also be held at the West Kowloon Waterfront. The first fireworks display is scheduled for 7:30 on the opening night of the parade. The Hong Kong Tourism Board also held a New Year’s Eve countdown fireworks display on New Year’s Eve, December 31. The town has an 8-meter-long train loaded with gifts, as well as more than 10 beautifully decorated Christmas trees of different sizes. In addition, childlike visitors can also interact with the Christmas elves who are busy "delivering gifts", and the recently popular cute pandas will also appear in the town in Christmas costumes.
🕰️Business hours: The West Kowloon Christmas Tree and Christmas Town will open on November 22, 2024, and the event will last until January 1, 2025. The lighting time of the Christmas town is from 5:00pm to 11:00pm every day, and the projection of the giant Christmas tree starts at 6:00pm every day and is played every hour.

Sunset Like a Painting: West Kowloon at Dusk
🌅 Sunset Moments at West Kowloon Cultural District 🌅
Every time the sun sets, the whole world seems to be bathed in golden light. At the West Kowloon Cultural District, I once again felt this magical charm. This place is not only a palace of art and culture but also an excellent spot to watch the sunset.
In this tranquil moment, the sky is dyed with warm orange hues, and the clouds gently dance as if telling countless stories. At that moment, I forgot the busy life, and my soul was soothed by the beauty of nature, as if time had stood still.
Whether sitting quietly alone or sharing with close friends, such a sunset makes one feel content. Every ray of light, every cloud, is a wonderful painting by nature. And in this moment, I felt the beauty and hope of life.
I hope my sharing can also let you feel this tranquility and beauty. If you haven't been to the West Kowloon Cultural District yet, don't miss this excellent sunset viewing spot! 🌞
🕒 Best Time to Shoot
The sunset time varies with the seasons, so it is recommended to arrive 30 minutes early, choose a good spot, and get ready to enjoy the moment.
A Korean-style street food stall in Tai Kok Tsui offers fresh soy sauce crab noodles.
My friend wanted to eat soy sauce crab, so they brought me to this Korean restaurant located in Tai Kok Tsui. The decor of the Korean-style street food stall makes you feel like you are really in Korea.
Soy Sauce Crab Noodles (Special Price $198)
The main attraction is, of course, the soy sauce crab. The restaurant is currently offering a promotion where you can enjoy soy sauce crab noodles with crab meat and roe for $198. It comes with crab roe, soy sauce shaved ice soup base, and refreshing cold noodles. The soy sauce crab is incredibly fresh, with smooth crab meat and roe marinated with top-quality Yeonpyeong Island crabs from Korea, without any fishy taste. However, it's only available all day from Monday to Thursday and before 7:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The promotion also requires a reservation by phone in advance.
Flaming Soy Sauce Ribs $188
We also ordered the flaming soy sauce ribs, marinated with a special Korean spicy sauce. The ribs are tender and flavorful, slow-cooked to perfection. The name 'flaming ribs' comes from the fact that the staff pours soju over the ribs and sets them on fire, creating an impressive visual effect and adding a charred aroma to the ribs.
Pineapple Sorbet $58
For dessert, we had the pineapple sorbet, served in a hollowed-out pineapple. The presentation is exquisite, and the sorbet has a rich pineapple flavor with bits of pineapple flesh.

Steamed Seafood and Hotpot: Satisfy Two Cravings at Once
As the weather cools down, the craving for hotpot arises. Someone suggested an even better idea: combining steamed seafood with hotpot.
Steamed seafood pots are a nostalgic way to enjoy the original flavors of seafood. I remember when Chiu Fook popularized this trend, opening multiple branches and becoming widely known.
Combining steamed seafood with hotpot satisfies two cravings at once, and I had no objections.
Near the entrance, there is a large fish tank filled with a variety of fresh, lively seafood.
A glance at the menu reveals prices that seem to have turned back time. From my memory, Chiu Fook's prices were higher even a decade ago.
Whether enjoying a steam pot or hotpot, having drinks is essential. The beverage cabinet outside offers unlimited beer, soda, and sugarcane root water.
The meal starts with a soup. Tonight's black chicken soup was rich and flavorful, a pleasant surprise.
After the soup, we began tasting the steamed seafood. Just like in the past, someone managed the timing for us. The first course was live shellfish, including clams and cockles, each one fresh and tender, needing no additional sauces.
Next was lobster, half a lobster per person. The white lobster meat spoke for itself, and each bite was satisfying.
We then chose four types of seafood: oysters, razor clams, scallops, and abalone. The oysters were plump and fresh.
With a professional managing the timing, the razor clams remained crisp and not chewy, steamed with garlic and vermicelli. If I had done it myself, they might have been overcooked.
The scallops were tender, and even the abalone was not tough.
After the seafood, we had two types of meatballs: preserved vegetable steamed pork balls and fresh shrimp balls. I preferred the latter for its bouncy texture.
We then had steamed chicken with cordyceps flowers before moving on to the hotpot.
We chose a clear lamb broth for friends who don't eat beef. The broth was better than expected, with corn and lamb, and no unpleasant smell.
A platter of beef, lamb, and pork satisfied the meat lovers. The lamb had a good amount of fat, but as a beef lover, I preferred the beef.
Vegetables and instant noodles were available outside, but by this point, most people were too full to eat much more. A couple of bowls of vegetables were enough.
Of course, we didn't forget the congee base, which had absorbed all the seafood essence, making it incredibly sweet.
The final dessert was red date cake, but if you don't like Chinese pastries, there was also ice cream available outside to satisfy your sweet tooth.
It was definitely another night of being stuffed to the brim.

Winter in Saint Petersburg: Romance and Splendor in the Snow
Saint Petersburg, the northern gem of Russia, reveals a unique charm in winter. As snowflakes gently fall, the entire city transforms into a fairy tale world.
Walking through the streets of Saint Petersburg, you will be awed by the magnificent architecture. Covered in snow, these buildings exude an even more mysterious aura.

Delicious and beautiful Hawaiian rice bowls.
Visited Sheung Wan to find some seafood shops and cat managers🐈, and stumbled upon this Hawaiian rice bowl restaurant🍚~
The restaurant has simple yet thoughtful decor💗~
We chose two types of Hawaiian rice bowls, both were super rich~
The toppings were abundant😍, and the value for money was great!
We chose a Big Mac Chicken🐔~
The slow-cooked chicken was perfectly done, very tender👍~
If you're into fitness, this rice bowl is perfect for you~
It also comes with pineapple, quinoa, and cherry tomatoes🍅, colorful, healthy, and delicious~
I was a bit greedy and opted for a customized rice bowl😋~
You can choose the base, either salad greens, Japanese sushi rice, or brown rice🍣~
Then pick a protein, I chose salmon🐟~
You get to choose three side dishes, I picked corn🌽, Chinese salad, and crab roe~
Finally, choose a sauce, and it's done👏!
Super large portion and super rich, makes your mouth water~
They have many special drinks, I chose the mango yogurt special🥭~
The base is blended mango puree with yogurt🍹~
But the mango ratio is not high, so it's not too sweet, more of the yogurt's sour taste~
My partner ordered the avocado yogurt special🥑, as the weather was too dry and needed some moisture🌬~
The avocado drink was very creamy, also had a strong yogurt flavor, not too sweet👌~
Didn't expect to find such a great poking shop in Sheung Wan~
The people eating there were very fit💪, with great body shapes~

Hong Kong's Must-Try Popular Bakery - Hashtag B.
Since Hashtag B opened in Tseung Kwan O, I always buy a bunch of goodies to take home and enjoy slowly after reheating them.
This time, I went overboard and bought an Irish Cream Tart, Napoleon Caramel Mille-feuille Tart, Mentaiko Hot Dog, Seeded German Twist, and Passion Fruit Pineapple Butter Soft Bun. My favorite is the Irish Cream Tart, which uses a sweet wine caramel sauce, making it both sweet and fragrant.

Hong Kong's specialized pork restaurant is very unique.
Environment🐷
The decor is quite distinctive, themed around missions. The menu design and ordering process are quite special. The space is small with only 5-6 tables, mainly focusing on takeout.
Food🤭
From the pictures, you can tell I'm a regular. I've tried almost everything, and I highly recommend the following:
[👍🏻 Signature Whiskey B3Q Pork Chop Rice $92]
This sauce is the most unique and special, but it's a bit sweet. If you don't like sweet flavors, it might not be for you.
[👍🏻 Cheese Apple Baked Pork Chop Rice $102]
This is the most distinctive baked rice, definitely worth a try.
Other rice dishes are standard, none are disappointing. It's one of my go-to places.

The best part is the pumpkin soup, it makes you feel warm instantly. Highly recommend dipping the sourdough in it😆
Tomato Beef Sauce Pasta with Runny Egg $98
The pasta is cooked perfectly! The tomato beef sauce is rich in flavor, and they added Parmigiano-Reggiano. Mix it with the runny egg, highly recommended👍👍
Smoked Salmon Sourdough with Purple Sweet Potato Puree $78
Ordered an extra smoked salmon sourdough because I was very hungry.
Fresh cream cheese with smoked salmon, paired with amazing sourdough. Very delicious💯💓
The purple sweet potato puree is also well made, seems like they added yogurt, not bad~

A very healthy tea, and quite tasty💓
