Last week, we participated at Croatian Tourism Days 2024 in Opatija, an event dedicated to celebrating the outstanding achievements of Croatian tourism this year! One of the standout moments was the insightful panel with Tourism and Sport Minister Tonči Glavina, who highlighted the "turning point" we are at in the development of Croatian tourism. The discussion emphasized the sector's need to rapidly adapt to the imperative of sustainability - an inspiring call to action for all of us. The event also showcased the rich heritage of our region through the presentations on Kvarner’s designation as the European Region of Gastronomy 2026. We’re thrilled to have welcomed our first Erasmus+ students from Slovakia to Jadran hoteli Rijeka. During their stay, these talented young individuals gained hands-on experience in various areas of hotel operations, contributing to our team and learning the essentials of the hospitality industry. Here’s what Sabina had to say about her experience in the Neboder Hotel: What surprised you the most about working in a hotel environment? "I think what surprised me the most about working in a hotel reception was how dynamic and fast-paced it can be! Every day brings different challenges and interactions with guests, which keeps things interesting." How did the experience of working in a foreign country enhance your personal and professional growth? "Working in a foreign country greatly enhanced my personal and professional growth by exposing me to different cultures, improving my communication skills, and teaching me how to adapt to various situations in the hospitality environment." What was the most important lesson you learned about customer service during your time here? "The most important lesson I learned about customer service during my time at the hotel was the significance of empathy."
