🎄 As the year draws to a close, it’s time for our team to shift gears and start tuning into the festive spirit. In December, we focus on three traditions to slow down and spend quality time with our team and their loved ones to gradually get ready for Christmas. 🎅 The “Bishop kids” had the opportunity this year to meet Santa again! This evening is the loveliest and coziest time you can imagine, with Christmas music and the pure excitement and wonder of seeing Santa in the kids’ eyes. ✨ Special thanks to our Santa! 💙 🎁 At our annual Santa Office Party, we surprised each other with handmade and creative gifts and partied hard for one last time this year. 🍷🍻 🎄 To close all these festivities, at our Christmas Dinner, we spent a night immersed in fairy lights, the sound of a crackling fire, and a great dinner! Microcontrollers: From Blinking LEDs to Running HTTP Servers 🖥️ 🌐 At our latest Bishop Academy, our colleague Márió Kis shared his passion and knowledge about Arduino microcontrollers. What are microcontrollers? 👉 Basically, they’re small computers on a single integrated circuit used to control various devices and processes. Why would you run an HTTP server on a microcontroller? ❇️ Low Cost and Power Efficiency: Running a server on an Arduino is both cost-effective and energy-efficient. ❇️ Integrations: The board allows integration with sensors for temperature, humidity, motion, and more. ❇️ Versatility: Microcontrollers can be used to control and monitor devices like lights, fans, or cameras via a web interface. They can also gather sensor data, enabling you to build your own weather station or measure the moisture level in your plant’s soil. Thanks to Márió, we had the chance to learn about the physical boards and see how the Arduino IDE (the software) works. This is the third year we’ve been the main sponsor of the Coding Competition held at the largest dormitory in Szeged. 💻 The participating teams had to solve challenges, puzzles and even risk it all to tackle the final boss! ⚔️ 🩸 👉 The tasks included coding, using AI, detective work on our social media sites, and even some physical challenges like push-ups. 😆 👉 For the final boss, competitors had to find creative ways to retrieve a password from an AI that was pre-prompted to do the exact opposite- aka not to reveal it under any circumstances! It was incredible to see so many young programmers working together, collaborating, and striving to conquer the challenges we set. We love fostering curiosity and passion within our team, and it was amazing to witness the concentration and motivation on the participants’ faces. 👏 Congratulations to the teams who made it to the podium—it’s well deserved! 🙏 A huge thank you to our amazing team: Szabi, Boti, Márió, Pali, Peti, and Balázs. As the weather is getting cooler, we cozied up in our office for some fun fall social activities. 🍻 We hosted an epic beer pong championship! Although only one team could take the win, we had a fantastic time cheering each other on and battling for the winner’s title. We witnessed some brilliant comebacks that had us sitting on the edge of our seats and holding our breaths. To keep our energy up for the competition, we also grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. 🥪 To beat the morning blues during this dark and rainy weather, we also organized a company breakfast. It was the perfect opportunity to share the latest company updates and start our day on the right foot. It’s always great to spend time together, break our daily routines, and ensure we’re not just colleagues but a team that knows and genuinely enjoys working with one another. MedTech Malta is the conference that resonates with me every time—the atmosphere, the people, the discussions—all of it just speaks to me deeply, and I enjoy returning to this event every year. This time was even better, as I had the chance to learn alongside my colleague Imre Kovács and company partner Szabolcs Tóth, MBA. I got to see and understand new perspectives from across the industry, from insights on Generative AI and personalized medicine to strategy building. I learnt a lot from Martin Gomez who shared his insights and knowledge on how partnering with US law firms can lead to success when navigating the US market. I was glad to hear Alex Condon talk about Houston as it was especially exciting to learn more about the MedTech community in the city as I will be travelling there early next year.
