On October 14, our Prometheus powered by evosoft rocket took to the skies at EuRoC! 🚀 This year's European Rocketry Challenge officially ended on Wednesday. It has been an extremely exciting, challenging and instructive few days, during which we have gained a lot of new knowledge. After a minor technical problem, the launch was successful and we were able to reach an altitude of 3242 meters! However, based on the weather conditions, the organisers decided that rockets could only be flown with a drogue parachute, no main parachutes were allowed, therefore we had a rough landing. 🪂 During the launch, the ascent, the separation followed by the deployment of the drogue chute, and the simulation of the main parachute deployment were all nominal. 🎉 Unfortunately, due to a technical problem, the on-board computer and communication module could not transmit the exact landing position of the rocket, and after a long and tiring search, we were unable to recover it. 🔍 😢 Despite all, our team remains committed to our mission and we learned a lot from EuRoC '24. This experience only strengthened our motivation to come back stronger and better prepared next year. 💪🚀 European Space Agency - ESA, Agência Espacial Portuguesa #bmesuborbitals #EuRoC2024 #EuRoC24 #competition #rocketry #teamwork #EuropeanRocketryChallenge #engineering

On Monday, we had the first test of our biggest solid rocket motor, Helios 1T. On the test, we experienced an extremely strong ignition that resulted in the faster burn of the propellant. This lead to developing around 6 times the nominal chamber pressure (300 bar), which the engine's nozzle structure did not survive. The engine's thrust was 4 times higher than it was supposed to be. #bmesuborbitals #helios1T #rocket #rocketry #propulsion #test #staticfiretest #rocketmotor #engine #ignition
