On 14 December, HHP Law Firm was invited by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia to be the main speakers in a discussion on the Protection and Use of Cultural Assets through Intellectual Property Rights at the National Gallery, Indonesian Heritage Agency, Jakarta. The aim of the discussion was to deepen understanding of the use and protection of intellectual assets of museums and cultural heritage. The event kicked off with an opening speech by our Managing Partner Indri (Mita) Guritno, who emphasized that HHP Law Firm prioritizes Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values, including sustainability principles, in its business operations. Consequently, it is important for us as a firm to make a sustainable impact on the nation and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to protect and promote our shared cultural heritage. The Vice Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Giring Ganesha, also shared his visions and views on how to preserve and safeguard museum assets and cultural heritage to attract more foreign tourists to Indonesia. Also attending the discussion that day were the Spouse of the Minister of Culture, Katharine Grace, and the Spouse of the Vice Minister of Culture, Cynthia Ganesha. The two-hour interactive discussion was led by our Senior Partner and Head of IP & Technology (IPTech) Practice Group, Daru Lukiantono. He was supported by Associate Partner Wiku Anindito, Senior IP Consultant Gayatri Putri Utami, and Associate Permatasari Ayuningtyas. The hybrid event was attended by approximately 30 in person participants, with another 30 participating online, most of whom were heads of museums across Indonesia. We trust that this discussion and initiative will provide valuable insights and serve as a significant step towards maximizing the value of our cultural assets, thereby ensuring the sustainability of our nation's heritage. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Culture for this opportunity, and look forward to further fruitful collaborations in the future.

On 13 December, we celebrated our Year End with a delightful Bazaar and Gift Exchange, which was a result of incredible collaboration by all staff. Our bGreen initiative, "From One Hand to Another," was a resounding success, opening new horizons for environmental improvement by extending the life of used clothing. Our talented colleagues also showcased their culinary skills, selling delicious food, and we made a positive impact by donating old electronic devices in collaboration with 'Dulang'. As we look forward to the new year, let's continue to embrace sustainability, do good, and hope for a brighter future ahead! 🌟 #YearEndBazaar #GiftExchange #BeGreen #LifeinHHP

AI is redefining what is possible across industries today. In Indonesia, businesses are increasingly adopting AI, both as developers creating novel AI tools and as users leveraging AI to generate text, images, audio and other forms of creative output. However, Indonesia's current Intellectual property (IP) framework, which was designed before the prevalence of AI, reveals notable gaps when applied to AI and leaves important questions around protection, ownership and infringement. It is essential to understand these legal gaps to operate confidently in this 'uncharted territory'. By proactively addressing key IP considerations within the current IP legal framework, businesses in Indonesia can take steps to protect their innovations, manage risks, and leverage AI's potential, even amidst regulatory uncertainty.
