Last week I saw an interesting post from Alan Mourgues (link below), where he questioned some funky behavior that we sometimes see when developing EOS models 👨🔧. This behavior can be described as the saturation pressure "blowing up" for low temperatures. The question is, is this effect real or just a quirk of a poorly tuned model that we should try to avoid 🤔? Based on the comments to Alan's post (and my own experience talking to various PVT experts around the world), it seems like there are a lot of strong opinions regarding this behavior. So, how can we settle this discussion in a way that should convince every good faith person 🤔? As usual, the solution is *SHOW SOME DATA*! If we can measure this behavior, then the discussion should be over 👨🔬. And this is exactly what I'm doing here! The dataset that you see in the figure shows the measured dewpoints for a relatively wide range of temperatures 🌡️. As you can clearly see, the dewpoints increase dramatically at low temperatures. This is, in my opinion, clear evidence for the simulated behavior show as lines on the same plot! You can also see the liquid relative volume, and there is no measured three-phase behavior (in the measured pressure-temperature range at least) 💡. As a note, this sample was matched together with 100s of other samples ranging from lean gas condensate to black oils 🤯. This gives me strong confidence in the modeling results! 🌊 The True Impact of Oil Spills 🌊 Oil spills are more than just news headlines—they are disasters that harm the environment, wildlife, and local economies. The clean-up is costly and time-consuming, and the damage to ecosystems can last for decades. 🔎 Notable Oil Spills in History: 1. Gulf War Oil Spill (1991) – The biggest spill ever, with 1.5 million tons of oil released. 2. Deepwater Horizon (2010) – A blowout that spilled 4.9 million barrels into the Gulf of Mexico. 3. Ixtoc I (1979) – An accident that took nearly 10 months to stop. These events highlight why safety and sustainable practices are so important in our industry. Let’s learn from the past to build a safer future. 🌍✨ #EnvironmentalAwareness #OilSpills #Sustainability #IndustryLessons
