The Art and Science of Vulcanization At PT Hung-A Indonesia, we pride ourselves on our meticulous manufacturing process, particularly the crucial step of vulcanization that gives Schwalbe bicycle tires their shape and elasticity. During vulcanization, a worker carefully places a curing tube, also known as an airbag, into the greencase and aligns it with a negative mold specific to the tire type. This mold is designed to ensure precision and consistency in every tire we produce. Five tires are vulcanized at a time, with the airbag pressing the green case into the mold. The rubber compounds are then vulcanized at a controlled temperature of 170°C. After approximately six minutes, the molds are opened, revealing rubber tires that now possess the required elasticity and durability. This process is integral to ensuring that every Schwalbe tire meets our high standards of performance and reliability, providing cyclists with products they can trust.
