This was a private clients request: a multi colored octopus. It will be displayed in the bathroom so our friend will feel right at home. It took about 5000 waste bottle caps to create this, all collected from Balinees residential waste. We love these custom requests where conscious clients choose to use #recycledplastic to create there #plasticart piece instead of a virgin material. r•Plastic stand for "recycled plastic". When plastic gets recycled, for example PolyPropylene, the abbreviation changed from PP to rPP. Also when pronouncing r•Plastic it sounds like "our plastic". And thats what we should become aware of: we are responsible, it is all our plastic! We buy it, we use it, we bin it. This realisation gives us great power: we can influence and make change! r•Plastic stands for playful. The main thing is to have fun and approach live in a playful way. We take it way to serious most of the time! I believe our kids are our greatest teachers and they are most in flow when they have fun! r•Plastic stands for minimalistic. Don't confuse minimalistic for boring, on the contrary! Minimalistic for us means to be conscious of what we buy and consume. Are the products we buy useful or is it just more stuff? When we create product out of recycled plastic it will be a useful product, it will replace virgin plastic or natural resource, it can be used for many years, it will be recyclable and it will add to a circulair economy. It will be local recycled plastic, the products will be locally produced and offered on the local market. r•Plastic stands for Tri Hita Karana. This is a Balinees philosophy of life. It boils down to 3 relationships: person to God, person to person and person with nature. All these relationships have to be maintained to achieve harmony and prosperity. We started with Bali's residential plastic waste collected by Prevented Ocean Plastic. The flakes are heat pressed into a sheet thats cut to shape with our CNC machine. The outcome: a huge tiger 🐅! We went to Bali's pantai Saba to collect more flip-flops. Incredible how much waste is on the beach there. Collecting was easy, within 2 hours we had 3 bags, a total of 28kg! Our electrical bike from Skute Bali is doing a great job hauling them to our new processing facility. Stay tuned to see what we do with them.
