3 years ago I almost gave up my dream of pursuing my undergrad at Erasmus University Rotterdam because my mom had been forced into early retirement due to her airline company filing for bankruptcy. My family has been far from being financially stable since then. But last July, I graduated with honours from this dream university of mine. Having hailed from a developing country and coming from a middle-class family, I find myself, like many others in my situation, developing a seemingly impossible hope of being able to study in a top ranked institution abroad; whereas, in reality, where I come from, pursuing education overseas has always been perceived as being exclusive to the wealthy elites. Be it from a financial or informational standpoint, the inaccessibility of studying overseas has led countless students to give up their pursuit of this very expensive dream. Even with the odds against me, I was fortunate to bring this dream to life and spend the last few beautiful years pursuing the degrees that I love. So many beautiful highlights and lessons came my way during my undergrad, among them.. ⭐️Receiving letters from HRH Prince William and HRH Prince Harry when I was awarded with The Diana Award for my work with Gores Denai (Yayasan Generasi Penggerak Global). ⭐️ Interning at Unknown Group and FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank where I immersed myself in impact investing and realized how deeply the mission of making a difference for people and the planet resonates with me. ⭐️ Graduating top 10 from the Young Leaders for Indonesia Foundation by McKinsey & Company Wave 15. ⭐️ Getting Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship’s support where we receive guidance from startup facilitators and the opportunity to immerse in the startup ecosystem. Deeply grateful to Katty Hsu and the ECE team for making this possible. I couldn’t have done it alone. I want to thank my brilliant tutors, Adham Aly, Ashmi Krishnan, Isa Sánchez Cecilia, and Anastasiia Poberezhna, for their academic guidance. A special thanks to my colleagues at Unknown and FMO, Jasper Warmenhoven, Leyli Ibrahimova, Marlies van Luin and Alexander Rijpma, for helping me grow professionally and trusting me with important tasks along the way. And last but certainly not least, the ones I can’t imagine life without, my incredible friends and mentors, Andhika Sudarman, Muhammad Akmal, Firmansjah Muhammad, Susanna Hammerstein, Laura Nghiem, and Aurelia Leowinata, for their constant support and belief in me, even more than I believe in myself. I’ve grown to love the Netherlands a little too much to leave just yet. With that said, I’m excited to announce that I’m open to work (though I don’t have the green banner up). During Forum 1 Week 2, participants embarked on a journey of self-discovery with the Aberkyn team. From creating initiatives to boost youth productivity in Central Sulawesi to aiding digital transformation in West Java, Biondi exemplified purposeful leadership and positive societal impact. Our distinguished guest speaker, Dharma Djojonegoro, concluded Forum 1 of the 2024 YLI National Program with a blast. Dharma shared his fascinating career journey, transitioning from a renowned Indonesian music artist to a prominent CEO in the energy sector. His story offered a unique perspective on resilience and the importance of exploration and experimentation in early professional life. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Biondi, Dharma, and the Aberkyn team for their inspiring contributions during Forum 1 Week 2 of the 2024 YLI National Program. The first forum of the 2024 YLI National Program was a blast! 🇮🇩✨ In Forum 1 Week 1 of the 2024 YLI National Program, participants embarked on self-discovery, honing their leadership skills like never before. Our inspiring speakers and faculty took the spotlight, leaving the participants in awe: 🎤 Tantia Dian Permata Indah, CPC – COO & Vice President at Monash University Indonesia 🎤 Ari Patera Nikicio – General Manager, Ciputra Group 🎤 Thomas Hansmann – Partner at McKinsey & Company 🎤 John Patrick Ellis – Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company 🎤 Carlos Karo Karo – Client Advisor, Innovation & Learning Center at McKinsey & Company 🎤 Adrian Kartawidjaja – Vice President of Strategy at AgriAku Ari Nikicio, one of our distinguished speakers, gave an insightful perspective to the participants as he shared his journey leading himself through his 9-year journey in Ciputra Group to become its General Manager. His words have an impactful effect on the participants, reminding them to be resilient at all times even from their early career years. Tantia, another one of our incredible speakers, lit up the session as she shared her journey of leading herself from college to becoming a COO & Vice President at Monash University Indonesia. Her words echoed through the participants’ hearts, reminding them never to forget the joy of the ride and how to unleash their potential from a young age. Participants also learn more about the thrilling possibilities of Indonesia’s economic landscape in the years to come from Thomas and how to eagerly embrace the coming of age of Generative AI and all its opportunities from John Patrick Ellis. Finally, of course, we couldn’t forget Carlos and Adrian who delivered modules that armed participants with strategic thinking and empowered them to conquer any challenge that came their way.
