Last week I participated in a Sustainability Communications course and am delighted to say I'm have received International Communications Consultancy Organisation accreditation as a Certified Sustainability Communications Expert. The course was a fantastic dive into the climate crisis, but also provided a great overview of the regulatory framework surrounding CSRD, Greenwashing and managing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. I have left not only with a renewed passion and sense of urgency around our changing climate, but also with a new set of skills to communicate this to businesses and to the public. Thank you to Johannes Naimer-Stach and Damien Plant MBA CEnv FIEMA for delivering so much knowledge in such an engaging manner and to Alice Public Relations for hosting the course. We are pleased to share a brand-new guide to “Boosting Youth Engagement in Sustainable Food Systems”. Developed for Airfield Estate by the great team of CHARM-EU students from Trinity College Dublin - Filippo Carminati, Rachel McCaffery, Taylor Tulissi, and Pablo Weber – this guide presents research backed recommendations on how to inspire and engage young people in sustainable food systems.   Created in response to the challenge posed by Aoibhín Moore Heslin PhD and Paul O'Keeffe on how to effectively engage and communicate with youth about food systems for long-term sustainability, the guide explores approaches such as: 🧺 Local food initiatives to build real world connections and sustainable solutions. 🤳 Digital and social media strategies to meet young people where they are. 👐 Non-traditional learning methods that focus on experiential food and sustainability education. 🎮 Gamification techniques to enhance participation, engagement, and retention of information. This resource will be useful to organisations passionate about food systems, education, and community engagement—especially those looking to connect with young people in meaningful and impactful ways. What a beautiful morning for our first Corporate Volunteers of 2025 to visit Airfield Estate! We're delighted to welcome colleagues from the Accenture graduate programme onto the estate. Our volunteers spent the morning gardening in our woodland area and learning about our regenerative and sustainable practices.

Graduates both within the field and out of it as the skill set you gain in UCD is really unparalleled." 🎓 Passionate about all things sustainable, food and farming, Kirstie McAdoo has spent her life working with young people, women and the public to increase awareness and understanding of our food production systems from the soil up. She has worked most recently as Director or Education and Research with Airfield Estate with the Department of Education — Ireland Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine University College Dublin and many international universities and organisations in novel and exciting research around everything from new post-primary science and Ag. Science curricula, to the effects of diet on methane production in beef, to the trustworthiness of big Agri-data, soil and crop adaptations to climate change. We spoke to Kirstie about her career journey and this love for food and farming; how it has developed over the years into such a wonderful career enabling her to give back to the community and education.
