Spaces are available on our free Group Support Programmes, which start in February, for women living in Kilkenny and Carlow, details ⬇ 1. Hope2Recovery Programme; starting 13th February, meet weekly for 7 weeks. This is for any woman who is currently living with abuse or who has experienced any form of domestic abuse/coercive control in the past. 2. Recovery Toolkit Programme; starting 11th February, meet weekly for 12 weeks. This is for any woman who has experienced any form of domestic abuse/coercive control in the past and is no longer in the abusive relationship. Both programmes will be facilitated in a private and safe space in Kilkenny by members of our specialist community based team. Interested in learning more? The Silent Treatment in abusive relationships - what it is and isn't... The Silent Treatment is happening when the abuser weaponises silence as a way to gain, maintain or regain control. It's a form of manipulation used alongside other controlling & abusive behaviours. When the abuser uses the silent treatment they are doing it to punish the victim-survivor & create an atmosphere of pressure & fear. The Silent Treatment is not happening when a victim-survivor withdraws or stops communicating as a form of self protection from further abuse. It is not the same as feeling overloaded & needing space. We celebrated a really significant milestone before Christmas, the opening of our first off site office in Kilkenny city. The office will be a hub for our community based services, offering women a safe and private space where they can meet with members of our community based team for one to one support and information. This has been a long time coming and we're so delighted to be able to offer this to women living in Kilkenny who need our community based supports.
