About us
AnaBio’s key focus is the micro-encapsulation of probiotics. Micro-encapsulation involves coating sensitive functional ingredients with a microscopic layer that protects against a wide range of environmental conditions. When added to food and beverages, huge numbers of probiotics frequently die due to harsh environmental conditions, giving the consumer none of the health benefits associated. AnaBio’s patented micro-encapsulation technology protects probiotics against challenges such as heat during processing, oxygen and moisture during storage, and acid conditions in the stomach. This allows food and beverage manufacturers to ensure their probiotic products deliver real health benefits to consumers, reduce overdosing, and create new to the world UHT treated beverages with live probiotics. AnaBio also micro encapsulates other functional ingredients and works with clients through contract research, commercial ingredient supply, and technology licencing.

Time to reflect on last week's #probiota by NutraIngredients, and together with International Probiotics Association in Copenhagen. As usual we enjoyed days of great science and networking, it was a blast! My involvement increases with the years, I truly feel to have become a member of the Probiota community at my third Probiota in Europe and my fifth overall. I am grateful to everyone welcoming me! I got to reconnect with known faces and meet new ones. On day 1, we filled a session with all #gutbrain! After speaking about the neuropsychological effects of pro- and prebiotics measured by symptom scores and neuroimaging, I enjoyed a discussion with co-panelists Dr Siobhain O'Mahony, Katherine (Katie) Guzzetta, Emily Prpa PhD. On day 2, we were awarded the Scientific Frontiers Winner for our collaborative project between AnaBio Technologies & Örebro University & BIOASTER on the differential brain health effects of two different formulations of one and the same #probiotic. Stay tuned for more on this RCT covering brain health outcomes such as mental well-being and cognition, as well as putative mechanisms of action. As all research, this study is only possible thanks to a strong team: Robert Brummer, Ashley Hutchinson, Myrto Chatzopoulou, Rediet Fikru Gebresenbet, Linda Andersson, Lina Tingö, Cecilia Bergh, Jonas Persson all at ORU, Romain Daillère at Bioaster, Sinead Bleiel, Seamus McSweeney at AnaBio, & more! We had plenty of opportunity to network at a variety of social events (my all time favourites are the morning sports sessions!).
