A central route to skills development in Ireland. #GenerationApprenticeship
About us
Apprenticeships are an exciting and proven way for employers to develop talent for their company and industry. Apprenticeships are designed by industry-led groups, supporting growth and competitiveness. Apprentices earn while they learn and build valuable work-ready skills in a chosen occupation. Apprenticeships open-up exciting and rewarding careers, with learning grounded in the practical experience of undertaking a real job. Apprenticeships have long been an accelerator for individual and corporate development in Ireland. Generation Apprenticeship is a major expansion project to more than double the number of learners, of all ages and backgrounds, taking the apprenticeship route. This promises to be a huge source of inspiration in opening apprenticeship into a full range of twentyfirst century industries and skill sets. Helping more people discover and develop their talents through training is at the heart of the national apprenticeship system.

Delighted to say so far being in my role as one of the 'National Apprenticeship Outreach Officers' I have supported 16 Travellers into apprenticeships across both Universities and Local Education and Training Boards Ireland. Now there is 3 Traveller Women in apprenticeships areas of - accountancy, hairdressing and pre-apprenticeship. Supported within 6 months of my role: (7th of May) ✨2 Girls into a hairdressing apprenticeship and a pre-apprenticeship. ✨14 lads into the variety of access to apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships. The TAIP team have been doing so much work together and the positive outcomes have shown it. 🙌 A special mention goes to Isabela Soares Perrin for her outstanding administrative support, guidance, and creative contributions, such as producing this fantastic video. 👏👏 It’s inspiring to see what our combined efforts have achieved! Irish Traveller women face unique and complex barriers when it comes to entering and advancing in the professional market. From educational disadvantages to systemic discrimination, these women encounter significant challenges. Despite these difficulties, many are trying to get work, do apprenticeships and break the cycle of inequality. Efforts are still needed to create pathways to employment, including inclusive education, mentorship opportunities, and workplace diversity initiatives. The Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme is working to support Traveller women to do apprenticeships and start their careers. We must ensure their talents are recognised.
