Last week we welcomed Minister Dara Calleary to officially open our Belmullet knitwear manufacturing plant. It was a great opportunity to thank Údarás na Gaeltachta, Enterprise Ireland, and all the other businesses who continue to support our growth. This manufacturing plant will allow us to keep up with the ever-growing international demand for our Made in Ireland products. Our Roots: Based in the beautiful town of Westport, Co Mayo, Ireland which has strong links to the textile and knitting industries spanning several generations, we are very fortunate to be surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery imaginable – rivers, lakes, The Reek (Croagh Patrick Mountain) and of course the wild Atlantic Ocean, an infinite source of inspiration for our design team and one that is often featured in our stitch detail, not to mention our branding and labelling. Whether inspired by our surroundings or equally our knitting heritage, every stitch is steeped in symbolism, from the fisherman’s cable (representing safety and good luck) to the honeycomb (a just reward for hard work). Our Products: Each piece is a testimony to the skill and craftsmanship of our designers and knitters. Working almost exclusively with natural materials, Aran knitwear remains as much in fashion today as it did yesteryear. It is constantly evolving and innovations in styling and yarns ensure it belongs in today’s wardrobe even more so than at any time in past. Aran knitwear is synonymous with our country.
