Updates

  • As well as wishing all our customers, suppliers and colleagues a very Merry Christmas, APC are delighted to be supporting Make-A-Wish, Ireland. This incredible charity grants wishes to children with critical medical conditions bringing hope, strength and happiness to the children and their families. We were very touched by the story of Ruairí, a vibrant six-year-old battling a rare neurological disease, whose wish for a climbing frame created precious memories and filled his home with laughter & joy. Even as his illness progressed and he tragically passed away, those joyful moments remain a source of comfort for his family.   When Ruairi’s brother, Fionn, faced the same condition, Make-A-Wish stepped in once more. Fionn’s wish for real soccer goals turned into an unforgettable day of sports, fun, and community celebration. These experiences show the lasting impact of wishes—not just for the children but for their families—creating moments of magic during the hardest times. You can read about their story and other children helped by Make-A-Wish on their website. https://makeawish.ie/

  • APC are delighted to receive the overall customer EHS Safety Award from Tynagh Energy Limited for recent works at Tynagh Power Station. Pictured is APC’s Operations Manager, Eneas Masterson receiving the award from Tynagh's Generation Manager. It was in recognition for: 1. Demonstrating good commitment to safety across a large scope of work, particularly in challenging areas such as hot work inside the drum and confined spaces. 2. Acting proactively in addressing any safety concerns that arose and consistently maintaining a high standard of safety performance. 3. Sourcing specialised equipment to ensure thorough inspections of the pipework. 4. APC’s work crews showed good engagement with the GE site team with a sustained focus on EHS. 5. APC’s work on the gas performance skid repair and support around the HP drum especially in managing emerging work on-site with efficiency and care. Our enormous thanks go to Eneas, Site Superintendent Patryk Malkowski and the rest of the team at Tynagh Power for their hard work and commitment to safety.

Hydrogen ready gas turbines being installed in Ireland. 8 x 35MW LM2500Express fast start aeroderive gas turbines, supplied by GE Vernova , being installed by Atlantic Projects Company , at the ESB West Offaly Power Station. Really impressive project re-purposng the existing 110KV grid connection for the now de-comissioned peat fuelled steam turbine plant. These gas turbines are distillate fuelled - it would be great to see them run on green hydrogen or green methanol in the future - produced from surplus wind generation in the Midlands. The fast start LM2500's will provide 264MW of much needed back-up power. These aeroderivative gas turbines have free spining power turbines allowing the generator to be "motored" and also act as a synchronous condenser. #eng4climate #greenhydrogen EUTurbines - European Association of Gas and Steam Turbine Manufacturers

To close out this month, we wanted to take a trip across the pond and recognize the Mechanical & Piping crew from the Atlantic Projects Company, and the work that they have done on the Shannonbridge project over in the Republic of Ireland! From the get-go, this team has been instrumental in their support of this project. Their execution of mechanical & piping installations was spectacular, and their commitment has ensured that the systems have been able to reach the turnover stage of the process. They also achieved an exemplary safety record, with only ONE first aid incident and ZERO lost time incidents or recordables amongst the group throughout the duration of the project! We would like to sincerely thank Ferat, Jimmy, Padraig, Patrick, Darren, Jack, Aaron, Ross, and Steve for their superb performance and unwavering diligence - Shannonbridge wouldn’t be possible without you! #gemma #apc #shannonbridge #spotlight
