About us
Children in Hospital Ireland is a national non profit organisation, one of Ireland’s leading children’s charities, promoting the welfare of all children in hospital regardless of illness or condition. CHI has worked for 40 years promoting the emotional and developmental needs of sick children by providing play in hospital. Play is an important part of childhood but in hospital it has added value. Play and fun activities reassure children and help them cope with illness and hospital. It provides them with a sense of normality and offers great opportunities to socialise with other children. Children in Hospital Ireland offers extensive services for parents and carers of sick children and provides an advocacy and advisory resource for planners, policymakers, the HSE and the Department of Health and Children.

Check out our customer interview with Elizabeth Morrin at Children in Hospital 💜 With more than 300 volunteers across 14 hospitals nationwide, CIH Ireland facilitates play and recreation opportunities, thereby easing the experience of hospitalisation for children and their families. Elizabeth and the team did their absolute best with what they had available to them before Volunteero but found challenges around measuring impact, scheduling volunteers, tracking attendance and communication. It was no small undertaking to implement a system but they are so glad they did. We are so proud to support Elizabeth, the team and their wonderful volunteers. Check out the full interview, link in the comments. #volunteermanagement #volunteerrecruitment #charitydigital

It's #PlayinHealthcareWeek ! We asked our volunteer manager, Elizabeth what impact play has on a child's experience of hospital. This is what she had to say...
