I had a lovely break @corkfilmfest, hosting a Q&A with Georgia Kumari Bradburn, one of the codirectors, of the fantastic film by autistic filmmakers from the UK, The Stimming Pool https://lnkd.in/ej2JCeq9. Then hosting a panel on Neurodiversity in the Film Industry for #NationalTalentAcademies First take, with Georgia Kumari Bradburn, Olaya Chesneau and ShannonHalt, three fantastic filmmakers who were so willing to share honestly their personal experiences. Thank you to Roisin Geraghty and her fab team at #CIFF, they took really good care of me and made sure that I had nothing to do. It was a fab break and a real treat!

Cork International Film Festival is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Ford, particularly through our shared commitment to discovery and sustainability. Ford Motor Company is the Electric Vehicle Partner for our 69th edition which is running until Sunday 17th November. This year, Ford is supporting the Festival with a fleet of new all-electric Ford Explorers to transport VIPs and special Festival guests between 24 Cork City and County venues. CIFF serves as a platform for vital societal discussions, tackling themes like climate change, mental health, and inclusivity. It’s a celebration of culture that welcomes all generations and diverse communities, providing a joyous escape into the world of cinema. ”Connected through a shared legacy spanning seven decades, Ford and CIFF are synonymous as international brands rooted in Cork and open to the world,” said Fiona Clark, Festival Director and CEO. “Our Festival is a powerful platform that harnesses creative risk-taking and champions the power of storytelling. We are delighted to be continuing that journey of discovery with Ford once again this year.” “Ford's collaboration with Cork International Film Festival highlights our dedication to sustainability and supporting local communities. We look forward to featuring the new all-electric Ford Explorer and playing a role in the Festival’s exploration of impactful themes through the art of film.” John Manning, Market Lead at Ford Ireland. The new all-electric Ford Explorer is the first in a wave of innovative new electric vehicles from Ford and forges the way for a complete reinvention of the Ford brand in Europe.

Our co-founder and Head of Research & Innovation Ingrid De Doncker hosting a panel discussion this afternoon. She is joined by Director Doris Metz, Gisela Holfter and John Barimo, PhD after the premiere screening of Petra Kelly: Act Now! Petra Kelly was one of the most influential political figures of the 20th century. In 1980, she co-founded the German Green Party, the world’s first green party to rise to prominence. The screening was held in the Triskel as part of this year’s Cork International Film Festival. Future Planet is the sustainability partner of the Cork International Film Festival. In 2022, CIFF and Future Planet joined forces to improve climate literacy, encourage climate activism, and deliver positive impacts engaging with audiences through film. The collaboration also set about developing and implementing the Festival’s sustainability strategy. This award-winning partnership is underpinned by a shared commitment to promoting sustainability & inclusion for public benefit.

RTE asked me for a few highlights from the Cork International Film Festival programme. Very difficult exercise as I stand behind all these films. But here's what I came up with. and for the full programme, it's all there: www.corkfilmfest.org #CIFF2024 #Opening #Launch #CorkInternationalFilmFestival https://lnkd.in/e2HpfSyw
