Yesterday I visited CRH’s office in Dublin where I joined a festive townhall event. It was a great opportunity to meet with our people working across many of the corporate functions that support our business. As 2024 draws to a close we spent some time reflecting on all that we have achieved this year, due in no small part to the talented people who work in CRH. We discussed our recent Q3 earnings and performance highlights, as well as focusing, as we always do, on the importance of safety in our business.   I was delighted to participate in a fireside chat with Isabel Foley where we covered everything from CRH’s entrepreneurial spirit, how we develop and nurture future talent, to our favorite holiday traditions. A really enjoyable session and I look forward to spending more time with our people in 2025. For now, wishing everyone a very happy and safe holiday season.

Safety, talent and sustainability were three priorities on the agenda during a recent visit to the Lumbres Cement Plant in France. While there I had the opportunity to take part in a Safety Leadership Interaction (SLI) with employees of our EQIOM, A CRH Company business and hear about how they are working together to ensure a safer environment at the Plant. I also had the opportunity to meet with some early career team members and hear about their priorities as they begin to build what I hope will be an exciting and fulfilling career in CRH. Eqiom recently commenced an important decarbonization project at the Plant, involving the construction of a new state-of-the art kiln, incorporating innovative technology that will facilitate further carbon emissions reduction in the future. I was hugely impressed with both the scale of the project and the progress made to date. My thanks to Peter Buckley, Luc Callebat and Roberto Huet for an excellent tour.

I recently spent time visiting our Americas Materials and Oldcastle APG businesses in several states. I travelled to Utah, Louisiana, Florida, Michigan and Georgia. That’s a lot of miles but seeing the different parts of our business first-hand and meeting the people who work there is very important to me. Our materials business is the foundation for so much of what we do in CRH, providing the essential materials for our road, infrastructure and outdoor living solutions. Our APG business is the home of CRH’s Outdoor Living Solutions, transforming outdoor environments into dynamic living spaces for communities, businesses and residential customers. It was a pleasure to spend time with our local teams, including so many of our early in career talent and to experience their passion and energy for the work that they do. I couldn’t help but notice that everyone I met shared the same intense focus on delivering for our customers and solving the unique and evolving challenges they face. Such a great example of CRH living its purpose and standing together to reinvent the way our world is built. My thanks to Staker Parson Materials & Construction, Michigan Paving & Materials, Barriere Construction, Preferred Materials, Inc, Conrad Yelvington Distributors and Oldcastle APG for such a warm welcome.

Last week CRH welcomed employees from its newly acquired cement and concrete business in #Ukraine at a series of employee events hosted locally at the plants. Our Chief Operating Officer Randy Lake was in attendance along with President of our Europe Division Peter Buckley and Guillaume Cavalier President, Central and Eastern Europe. The newly acquired business includes cement plants at Volyn and Pivden which provide an important supply of cement to the construction market in Ukraine. This is an exciting development for CRH and builds on the existing presence we have had in the market since 1999.
