Since 1985, the Office of Student Life has supported and developed the provision of high-quality services, supports, and facilities to DCU’s 18,000 students. The OSL is the umbrella body for the Students’ Union, Club Life Committee and Society Life Committee; providing administrative support, training and facilities for the student leadership and student led bodies that work to enhance the experience and richness of students’ time in DCU. The Office of Student Life is based in The U Building on the Glasnevin Campus and in D112 on the St Patrick’s Campus - which houses its staff and facilities, including meeting rooms and spaces, a large venue and many other support services vital for a vibrant student life on campus. The OSL works to enhance student life in DCU through supporting student run organisations. Our mission is to enhance and support your DCU experience – both inside and outside the classroom – providing opportunities for growth and development through holistic experiences. Each year a percentage of your registration fee is put into one big pot called ‘capitation’. This money is then given to the OSL to fund Clubs, Societies, and the Students’ Union. DCU Sports & Wellbeing works in partnership with the OSL to develop sport and physical activity on campus. The service has a number of Sports Development Officers who aim to develop specific sports clubs and to enhance the student sport and physical activity experience on campus.

🌟 Empowering Women in Leadership: DCU WIN Leadership & Character Series Lunch 🌟 This week, several women from our Office of Student Life proudly attended the DCU WIN (Women’s Impact Network) Leadership & Character Series Lunch. This incredible initiative brings together women in leadership roles across DCU to share experiences, reflect on their journeys, and uplift one another. The focus of this week’s gathering was “Reflections”—a powerful theme that sparked inspiring conversations among attendees. We were privileged to hear from a series of guest speakers who shared their insights and stories. A special acknowledgment goes to Katie Keogh for organizing this meaningful event and creating a space that fosters empowerment and connection for women across the university. At the Office of Student Life, we are proud to be part of a community that prioritizes women’s leadership, character building, and collective growth. #DCUWIN #WomensEmpowerment #Leadership #DCUStudentLife
This week, our Student Life Office and our SU VP for Wellbeing Jamie Mangan headed to Boston to attend the ACUI conference! The week was packed with visits to seven university campuses across Massachusetts, while also providing opportunities to network with student life professionals from the US, UK, and Ireland. We gained valuable insights into international student center layouts, staff structures, and resource sharing. We're excited to bring these new perspectives back to our Student Life Office and explore how we can implement these fresh ideas to further enhance student life on our campus! #ACUI #DCUSTUDENTS #DCUSU

Campus Watch booklet launched at Dublin City University with Union of Students Ireland and An Garda Síochána. DCU’s Chief Operations Officer, Dr. Declan Raftery, and Dean of Students, Dr Claire Bohan, joined USI Vice-President for the Dublin Region Emma Monahan and members of Án Garda Síochána at DCU’s U Student Centre today to mark the launch of the 2024 Campus Watch safety booklet. Campus Watch is an initiative that aims to increase security awareness among third-level students nationwide. The booklet gives students useful information that promotes security and safety at public events or during nights out, alongside up-to-date regulations on road safety and drug awareness. The booklet is specifically tailored for third-level students to help them navigate safety challenges and make informed decisions. Speaking at the launch, DCU’s Chief Operations Officer, Declan Raftery, said: “Ensuring the safety and security of DCU students has always been a top priority for the University. The Campus Watch initiative helps us to achieve that aim by raising awareness among the student body about the ways to recognise risk and ensure personal safety. At DCU, we greatly value our ongoing collaboration with An Garda Síochána and the USI, and we are grateful for their proactive engagement on the student safety issue.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eh28zieZ #CampusWatch #DublinCityUniversity DCU Alumni DCU Global DCU Business School DCU Faculty of Engineering and Computing DCU Faculty of Science and Health DCU Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences DCU Educational Trust DCU Student Life DCU Students' Union
