Dublin Cycling Campaign
Non-profit Organizations
Our vision for Dublin is a vibrant, liveable city where everybody can safely enjoy everyday walking and cycling.
About us
The Dublin Cycling Campaign is an independent, voluntary cycling advocacy group that has been working to improve the city for all cyclists since 1993. We are working to encourage cycling and to represent the interests of everyday cyclists. We want to make the streets safer for cyclists and to increase public awareness of the benefits of cycling. We want to see a quantum increase in the use of the bike for commuting to school, college and workplace, recognising that a 'critical mass' of cyclists in traffic leads inevitably to safer streets. Safer streets for cyclists are also safer streets for pedestrians. Our core demands are listed on our campaigns page.

Amazing that a form of transport can be so self-managed: You can maintain and repair the vehicle with only a few hours' training and tiny expense.
Our #AndSheCycles Ambassadors had their second in-person event on Tuesday this week in Ceannt Park, Dublin. 🙌 The group had a chance to try out track cycling in the park's velodrome and then did a bike maintenance workshop. It was a great opportunity for the students to meet, connect and experience different aspects of cycling for the first time. #GreenSchools #AndSheCycles #Cycling #ActiveTravel #Activism #Empowerment #Leadership

Thanks to the The Irish Times for publishing our opinion piece highlighting the findings of our #Walkability and #Happiness paper published in the American Planning Association's #JAPA journal. With Prof Kevin Leyden & Dr Mike Hynes University of Galway and building on my PhD work undertaken in Dublin City University funded by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland supervised by Prof. Catherine Woods (now University of Limerick), Prof Kevin Leyden & Prof James Wickham. We're just scratching the surface of the findings, so much more to come! Walkable neighbourhoods are good for health, wellbeing, happiness and trust as well as lower transport related carbon emissions and transport poverty. https://lnkd.in/e4REBG2B Journal paper (open access): https://lnkd.in/erbviYyp Building on this research with the #CRAWL project funded by Science Foundation Ireland's National Challenge Fund Sustainable Communities funding.
