Siobhan Long and Padhraic Dormer of our National Virtual Services recently participated in a Panel as part of Ukraine's Tech4Life International Congress: Empowering Lives Through Innovation. We are proud of Siobhan and Padhraic for representing Enable Ireland and Ireland at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) event. Siobhan said: "A key message was the desire to create barrier-free opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in all aspects of life, across social, educational, employment, political and cultural contexts. Technology (both accessible and assistive) has a key role to play as an enabler, and Padhraic Dormer spoke passionately about this from his lived experience."

Thank you to the Garda Training College who welcomed adults from our Nenagh services for an unforgettable visit! This was a dream come true for Alex who has always had an interest in the Garda. Read on for a glimpse into their day... 🚓 When they arrived, a Garda welcomed everyone and led them to a training room. In here they learned about what it takes to become a Garda. After the talk, some service owners became an honorary Garda for the morning. They even got to wear the famous Garda hat and jacket for the rest of the tour! After that, they watched the new recruits marching in the courtyard and had the opportunity to join in. Suddenly, there was the screaming of sirens. But there was nothing to worry about! They weren’t under arrest! It was just one of the Gardas demonstrating a Garda vehicle and its siren. Those who were able then took turns in the car for a lap around the car – which was great fun. To finish their visit, the adults from Nenagh services joined the new recruits for their self-defense training. It was seriously impressive to see them in action. After their training, they had the chance to try hitting the training pads with a Garda baton. To top it all off, everyone received a medal for participating in the class. Thank you Garda Training College. 🧡
