  • As another year comes to a close, we reflect on the progress that has helped us to move towards a greener, more sustainable future. This progress during 2024 has been made possible by the actions of all our stakeholders, from our fantastic team, through to our shareholders, Board, development partners and suppliers, all of whom are committed to driving Ireland's clean energy transition forward. We look forward to continuing our efforts during 2025 and further progressing the green energy transition. Seasons greetings from all of us here at FuturEnergy Ireland! With thanks to Brendan Twomey, our Cork Community Liaison Officer, for the spectacular photo.

  • Last week FuturEnergy Ireland team members attended the Hare's Corner event in #Leitrim, where native trees were given to local schools, farmers, community groups and private landowners. More than 5,000 trees and planting guidelines were handed out on the day to Hare's Corner participants. Among the trees distributed were Birch, Alder, Hawthorn, Hazel, Holly, Spindle, Oak and rarer species including Burren Pine, Wych Elm, Aspen and Black Poplar. The Burren Pine is Ireland's only native pine tree. It once covered much of the country, but the species was thought to have become extinct 1,500 years ago until a handful were discovered on a tiny patch of the Burren. The Hare's Corner, a Burrenbeo Trust initiative, was launched this year in Co Leitrim, sponsored by FuturEnergy Ireland and Leitrim County Council's Biodiversity Office. The initiative offers local landowners ‘hassle-free’ support to carry out simple yet powerful actions for biodiversity.

  • FuturEnergy Ireland is ending 2024 with one final planning application - submitted earlier today to An Bord Pleanála in respect of the proposed Scart Mountain Wind Farm in Co. Waterford. This application is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from the project team, our in-house specialists and the consultancy Tobin. The support of many local landowners has also been a key element of enabling the project design. • Join us in celebrating three years of FuturEnergy Ireland! In late 2021, Coillte and ESB came together to establish this renewable energy joint venture, leveraging the Irish State’s premier assets and expertise in renewable energy development. The goal: to unlock the full potential of Ireland’s wind and land resources and play a pivotal role in accelerating the country’s transition to a low-carbon energy economy. Since our inception, we have doubled in size, reached significant development milestones and launched a battery storage portfolio — all while advancing steadily toward our target of delivering1GW of renewable capacity by 2030. The impact and growing cost of the climate crisis is becoming ever more apparent, as is the need to bring more renewable energy projects online in Ireland. Over the next three years and beyond, our team will intensify efforts to deliver our portfolio of projects to the highest standards, setting new benchmarks and contributing to Ireland’s sustainable energy future. Watch this space - there's so much more to come.
