Among the greatest hidden risks to a Waste Management Facility - Disposable Vapes. Ireland sold an estimated 12.5 million disposable e-cigarettes in 2022. They are accessible, inexpensive, and entertaining, but many people are unaware of the serious fire risk they present, particularly in waste facilities like ours. Disposable vapes may appear minimal and harmless but they actually contain tiny lithium batteries. The possibility of an unexpected fire brought on by these lithium batteries is quite real in our facility, where mechanical processes are always in operation. Vapes should ideally be disposed of in an available battery bin. #Vape #LithiumBattery #RecyclingMatters #Disposable #RecyclingTodayForTomorrowsFuture #FireSafety

Ireland's leading Residual MSW Material Recycling Facility & Alternative Fuel Export Hub
About us
Glanway is a dynamic, innovative and exciting business focused on the circular economy, in particular on deriving value from the waste society throws away. Glanway has grown rapidly since its inception in 2014 and currently processes circa 7% of Ireland's residual MSW (mainly household waste). Glanway also has an exciting plan to continue this business growth and develop an exciting Circular Economy Hub for processing, recycling and recovering MSW and other waste materials at our Facility in Belview Port, Waterford. Glanway diverts household residual waste in the South East Region of Ireland away from landfill to our Material Recycling Facility in Belview Port, Waterford, Ireland. Where the waste is processed extracting recyclables for recycling, organic fraction for composting and the remainder being processed into sustainable alternative fuels such as refuse derived fuel (RDF) for export for the production of heat and electricity. Glanway's 231,500 tonne per year export facility is located 150m from the Bulk and Container Terminals in Belview Port, Waterford. Allowing for very efficient loading of container and bulk vessels minimizing emissions, haulage and handling while maximizing bale and fuel quality.

Curious about how Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) works? RDF is made from non-recyclable waste, helping divert waste from landfills and providing an alternative to fossil fuels. RDF supply is a game-changing solution and helps shape a more sustainable energy future. 🔋♻️ #CircularEconomy #RenewableEnergy #WasteManagement"

At Glanway we view residual waste as a challenging but a potentially valuable resource. If processed innovatively targeting specific recyclables for removal and creating specific fuels for the Waste-to Energy industry with the remainder, we can help bring us all on a path to a more sustainable future. In 2024 we extracted over 6,000 tonnes of recyclable material that would otherwise be destined for landfill or incineration. #future #sustainable #circulareconomy #wastemanagement

In 2024, Glanway diverted roughly 80,000 tonnes of waste from landfill. By doing this we reduced CO2 emissions by 46,039 tonnes (the equivalent of taking 10,000 gasoline cars off the road for a year). #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy #Recycling #WasteToEnergy

Black Bin Waste Composition 🗑️ A significant portion of what ends up in the black bin is actually recyclable or compostable material. Studies from the EPA have shown that up to 40% of black bin waste could have been recycled, composted, or repurposed. Items like paper, cardboard, food waste, glass, and plastic are often wrongly placed in the black bin when they should be sorted into recycling or organic bins. At Glanway we target these recyclable materials that would be otherwise lost to landfill or incineration.

In 2024, Glanway exported over 50,000 tonnes of RDF to be recovered in the most efficient Waste-to-Energy facilities in Scandinavia. Waste isn't just waste— it's a valuable resource! 🔄💡 Waste-to-energy (WtE) facilities are transforming non-recyclable waste into power, contributing to sustainable energy solutions and reducing landfill waste. These facilities harness advanced technologies to convert municipal waste into electricity and heat, helping reduce carbon footprints and bolster energy security.
