Global Economic Summit

"Health and wellbeing are not just created primarily in hospitals and health clinics but in the way we eat, live, learn and work. That means that health is the business of every sector." Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, spoke virtually to the Global Economic Summit about the role that the private sector has in ensuring the health and well being of the planet. He commended a report by the WHO Council on the Economics of Health For All on how to rethink and reframe economies to support healthier populations, saying; "In the end, the questions is not whether countries can afford to invest in the health of their populations, it is whether they can afford not to."

"The future of our cities is talent. It is the talent that creates the energy and the dynamism that is necessary for our cities." As we look back on the Global Economic Summit 2024, we reflect on 100 years of Irish American relations that was marked by having the most senior female Irish American in US history speaking at the Summit. Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul , spoke fondly of her grandparents who left Kerry to settle in the United States and her keynote speech covered the future of cities, and what they require for a sustainable future. Another amazing day yesterday at #GES24. We had the honor of welcoming Ukraine's former Prime Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko who met with the team ahead of her keynote this morning on resilience in times of crisis.
