We were delighted to talk Sustainability today with our clubs in Northern Ireland at Malone Golf Club. We are committed to supporting our clubs on their sustainability journeys, with our bespoke programme providing free access to our Decarbonisation, Ecology and Sustainability experts. It was great to see so many club managers, greenkeepers and delegates attend, with fantastic insights and practical learnings from case studies presented by our keynote speakers including: Damian Mc Laverty (ATPI), Jonathan Smith (GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf) Olivia Fields (Arthian) Padraig Fallon and Ann Hopper (Dundalk Golf Club) and Maurice McKinley (Engineer). Today's sessions were hosted by our Head of Sustainability Ann Courtney and we thank our dedicated Sustainability experts Grainne Kelliher, Jim Young and Alan Lauder for their informative presentations also. #Sustainability

Golf Ireland and The R&A today announced the launch of “The Road to The Open” at Royal Portrush, an initiative designed to harness the legacy of The Open’s return to Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland Minister for Communities, Gordon Lyons MLA was joined by Golf Ireland CEO Mark Kennelly, representatives from The R&A, Royal Portrush’s Championship Committee, and local schoolchildren who participated in a taster golf session. As part of “The Road to The Open”, Golf Ireland will introduce golf taster sessions to 75 schools across Ulster, while rolling out “Unleash Your Drive”, a new six-week primary school programme in 20 schools. To ensure the sustainability of “Unleash your Drive”, the programme also includes a commitment to training 40 teachers to incorporate golf activities into the school day. The annual programme, which was developed by the Golf Foundation and The R&A, will be managed and delivered across the island by Golf Ireland staff. “We are committed to building upon the excitement generated by The Open’s return to Royal Portrush, to strengthen grassroots golf on the island,” said Golf Ireland CEO, Mark Kennelly.
