Thanks Oliver Dauert for putting it so well. We can all vote with our wallets.

"Bottled water companies don't produce water; they produce plastic bottles." Earthlyeducation Sugar drink companies, don't produce joy ↳ They produce obesity & diabetes Pesticide companies, don't produce food for the world ↳ They steal it from the next generation A quick look into our current system reveals that plenty of companies have a NET NEGATIVE IMPACT on our world. We, as people & other species, subsidize their existence at horrific costs. Yet, through heavy marketing, they sold us the idea that they should continue to exist. BUT WHY BOTHER? 👉 Impact on you 1 liter of bottled water includes about 240,000 tiny pieces of plastic ↳ Causes cancer, reduces reproduction health, create chronic diseases 1 Cola can has more than the recommended sugar intake per day ↳ Causes obesity, sugar addiction, dental issues In the U.S. alone 50 million people get their drinking water from groundwater that is potentially contaminated by pesticides ↳ Cause headaches, seizures, cancer, asthma 👉 Impact on other species Plastic ↳ When plastic hits corals their chances of getting disease jumps from 4 to 89% ↳ Corals are home to 25% of all life in our oceans Pesticides ↳ Germany study showed that 76% decline in flying insects are connected to heavy pesticide use ↳ insects are crucial for the food web, without them birds, mammals crash too This is great because it shows us that if you start treating your health seriously, you will also boost biodiversity. 3 ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE ☑️ If you work for a mentioned industry, try to push for positive changes from within. ☑️ Vote with your wallet for the world you want to see. ☑️ Listen to the podcast with a leading toxicologist, which I will link below. Will open your eyes to all the toxic stuff we expose us to. To boost your health & biodiversity we need to go from: Plastic producers -> Water guardians Sugar dealers -> Health supporters Disease spreaders -> Food revolutionists Are you in? P.S. What's your take on this? #biodiversity #nature #environment

Check out Wildacres 'creating a pond' workshops. A super sustainable Christmas gift for a friend or family member…or why not yourself? Dates for 2025 are up on the Wildacre's website: https://lnkd.in/eh-jfh_X
Social Enterprise Co Founder - Multi Award Winning Wildacres Nature Reserve & Biodiversity Education Centre - Dedicated to Wildlife Conservation - Inspiring & Helping others to Protect our Precious Biodiversity.
A busy day today at Wildacres We are in the midst of lots of Winter tasks to improve habitats, facilities and features on the Nature Reserve. One job we are in the middle of is scything 1 acre, of our 4 acre wet wildflower meadow. Got a good soaking today scything, but one of the most abundant creatures on the nature reserve, our common frog🐸, loves our wet wildflower meadow habitat. The Scything is taking double the time , as the grass has to be cut first to about 3inches high to expose them. Then they have to be caught and moved and then the grass has to be rescythed to ground level. They are such beautiful and important creatures. They are classed as a “Bio Indicator” species. Meaning they will be one of the first creatures to disappear when pollution is present in their habitat. As they absorb readily through their porous skin they are very susceptible to poisons in their surroundings. They are also a vital part of a healthy functioning ecosystem. As are a prey item in their tadpole juvenile aquatic phase and their mainly terrestrial adult phase, for multitudes of creatures. Since we have transformed the land, now with pond #42 being dug out Wildacres has become “Froggy Central” with literally thousands of them in residence. Spring, in the ponds at Wildacres is an incredible sight, and one sadly that has vanished from a lot of our landscape. With thousands of frogs 🐸🐸 converging on our ponds to mate and spawn. Creating a Wildlife Pond, of any size,is an incredible way to instantly help restore biodiversity. Our popular “Creating a Wildlife Pond” workshop dates for 2025 are up on our website! Great present idea for a friend or family member…or why not yourself? https://lnkd.in/eiDhF2bY 💚🌳🐝🪲🦇🍄🦆🌼🐞💚 #habitatrestoration #nature #ponds #biodiversity #wellbeing #health

Several East Coast Irish yacht clubs are contributing to environmental restoration by supporting the revival of native oysters in Dublin Bay. Howth Yacht Club, the Royal St. George Yacht Club, and the National Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire have partnered to host "oyster gardens," which will be suspended from their marina pontoons. This follows the success of similar shellfish “gardens” installed at Dún Laoghaire, Malahide and Poolbeg marinas earlier this year. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ed9g_dx6

Beneath our feet lies one of nature's most fascinating and vital systems: the Wood-Wide Web. This underground network of fungi and roots doesn’t just help trees connect and share nutrients—it plays a critical role in carbon capture, storing billions of tons of CO2 and supporting the fight against climate change. We look at: 🌳 How trees and fungi exchange resources through underground networks. 🍄 The role of fungi in carbon storage and its potential for climate action. 🛡️ How regenerative farming and no-till practices support these vital networks. 🌱 Why protecting these unseen ecosystems is essential for a sustainable future. 💡 Let us know—did you know fungi were this powerful? Did you know that tree planting season kicks off this month in Ireland? Tree planting is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways we can tackle climate change, boost biodiversity and create beautiful spaces for everyone to enjoy. Schools play a vital role in this effort, teaching the next generation about the power of trees while bringing communities closer together. We explore: 🌱 Why teaching kids about trees is so important 🌍 Inspiring initiatives like the Plant a Planet Campaign, led by Patrick Kirwan 🌲 How to prepare for #NationalTreeWeek2025 🌿 Ireland and the UK’s top school tree planting programmes Follow #GreenFridays if you’d like this in your feed every week 👉: https://lnkd.in/ehg_AY9k With thanks to Tree Council of Ireland, NatureScot and https://www.issn.ie/ #TreePlanting #Biodiversity #NationalTreeWeek #PlantATree

Tree Planting Season is Here! As tree planting season begins, it’s a perfect time to find spaces in gardens, schools or local communities for planting. In Ireland, consider native trees like mountain ash, hawthorn, oak, downy or silver birch, scots pine, hazel, or smaller trees such as crab apple, holly, wild cherry or even an old-fashioned apple tree. In our latest video, we interview Paddy Purser, a forest manager and consultant who has planted over 70 native woodland forests across Ireland. Paddy advocates for continuous cover forest management over clear-felling (where entire forests are cut at once), promoting a sustainable approach that enhances forest resilience. Paddy works with Purser Tarleton Russell Ltd., providing expert forestry services to Irish forest owners and supporting sustainable practices in forestry and environmental management. Watch our conversation to learn more about sustainable forestry and the impact of native tree planting in Ireland. #TreePlantingSeason #NativeTrees #SustainableForestry
