Cancer prevention through movement! The HSE’s physiotherapy services have been supporting an Urban Actions Cancer (UcanACT) in Kilkenny—where the emphasis is on promoting physical activity in urban green spaces towards cancer prevention.   With expert-led sessions, local partnerships & research-backed strategies, UcanACT empowered participants aged over 50 years to take part in a one-hour physical activity session, twice weekly in two pilot rounds during 2024. The results of pilot one showed improvements across a number of outcome measures.   Sinead Gavin, Physiotherapy Manager, HSE Community Services Carlow/Kilkenny, said “We look forward to opportunities into the future to support this pathway, which exemplifies a collaborative community-based physical activity initiative for people at risk and also living with or surviving cancer.” 💙 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eaEEw5E3   #UcanACT #StayActive #CancerPrevention #HealthyKilkenny

Aisling Heffernan, IHA Manager of Dublin South and Wicklow, visited staff and services at St Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown earlier this month. While there, Aisling learned more about the Medical Assessment Unit and Injury Unit and also new appointment initiatives that are proving very successful.
