📢 Agricultural Relief Update: Proposed Changes Delayed! 🌱 The much-talked-about updates to Agricultural Relief under Section 89A of the Capital Acquisitions Tax Consolidation Act 2003 are on hold, pending further consultation. 🕰️ What does this mean? The current rules stay in effect, so qualifying for this relief is business as usual! Previously, I outlined 15 scenarios illustrating the potential impacts of these changes. With this postponement, those scenarios are now on pause, as the anticipated amendments haven’t been implemented. https://lnkd.in/eikRPDnf Bottom line: No changes for now – the existing provisions under Section 89 continue to apply. 🚜🌾 I'm Excited to Present at the ACCA Annual Update on Farming Taxation! 🌾🚜 2024 has been a pivotal year for tax changes impacting the Irish farming sector. As I prepare to share insights on November 27th, here's a snapshot of what I'll cover: Agricultural Relief: A significant shift was expected but now postponed. Lets consider where we stand and take a quick look at the UK. VAT58s Guidance: Clarified rules on eligible VAT refunds for flat-rate farmers, crucial for construction and equipment investments. Stamp Duty for Young Farmers: Clawbacks have been added in. Change from Revenue’s stance where clawbacks would only apply to sales. Zoned Land Tax (RZLT): Farmers now have the ability to request to rezone the land. Vacant Homes Tax: Increased from three times to five times to seven times. These changes reflect the dynamic nature of tax laws that farmers must navigate. Last week, our Head of Public Sector Services & Economics, Karol Kissane, attended the 52nd UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) in Rome, representing ifac as part of the Private Sector Mechanism (PSM). He highlighted the urgent need for well-funded budgets and concrete action on food security, addressing inequalities, climate impact, and sustainable food systems. Karol also moderated key discussions, bringing global voices together to promote market access and tackle food system inequalities. As he noted, "Concrete action is required alongside reports and guidelines."
